what would cause weight loss, constant thirst, irritability, loss of appetite, dark urine no matter how much water is drank, and loose bowel. I don't feel much different other than the fact that I've been more irritable than usual. I seem to have more energy than usual. I'm usually very tired.

I'm too old for type 1 diabetes, if I had type 2 diabetes wouldn't I have an increased appetite instead of decreased?

It sounds like you have a serious problem and you need medical help as soon as you can. Dark urine is a major no-no and can indicate kidney failure. All of the symptoms you say that you have add up to something that needs to be identified and evaluated by a doctor.
