Luke 5:12,13. When a man in the advanced stages of leprosy implored Jesus "Lord if you just want to, you can make me clean", Jesus 'stretching out his hand, touched him, saying:"I want to. Be made clean." Jesus performed many miracles from a distance, but he chose to touch, possibly embrace this poor man, giving him not only a cure, but something he probably hadn't had in a long time, human contact. Beautiful.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and meditation, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4: 5-7.

I have chosen this because once when I was going through a mega-stressful time I put it to the test. I chased away all fretful thoughts, praying, praising and giving thanks and then presenting my petition to God. I discovered that the result was the peace which passes all understanding. I had always thought before that the two ideas were disjunctive: in fact, they belong together. If one refuses to be downhearted and instead leaves it to God in this way (the beginning of that passage in Scripture is the twice repeated word "Rejoice!") then that wonderful peace follows. Try it some time! It works!

Psalm 1

1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

When I first got saved this was the main verse that helped me through all of the rough times.

There are soo many...depending what season of life you are in. The one that is talking to me right now is Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding"
If you get the chance there is this great book called "The Best Question Ever" by Andy Stanley. It's pretty awesome. This verse is the theme in the last chapter.
They say knowledge is power, so gain knowledge in the one who made us and see his blueprint for life....

I have issues with love, and with believing people love me when they don't. I keep this in mind. I have a document on my desktop titled "When you need it" with this in it, just for a pick me up.

1 Corinthians 13
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. 11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 12Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Revelation 5:8
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Because it paints a picture of how precious our prayers are to god...all of them
