i want to be a vegetarian stating next week is it healthy what can i and what cant i eat

Absolutely not.

Unless you think becoming aneimic is cool and having vitamin deficiencies. And if you are working out having a hard time building muscle.

Certain types of Iron and vitamins are only found in animal products and meat.

It is not impossible to have a balanced nutritional diet as a vegetarian, but it is infinately more difficult to do that than to eat a regular balanced diet like a normal healthy person.

If you are afraid of eating something "alive". Vegetables are also "alive" and there is question to whether they also have consiousness as well. So the bleeding heart bull about "killing" something is crap. And mankind didn't evolve and become an "A-list" predator by eating vegetables. Meat is what caused our brains to evolve.

Anyone who tells you it is "healthier" to become a vegetarian is either willfully blind or ignoring the blatant mountain of evidence that says it is NOT automatically healthier and it runs the risk of becoming unhealthy if you really don't watch what you eat and make sure you are taking in the proper nutrients.

Congratulations! Being a vegetarian is very cool. Not only will you have better overall health (providing you don't just eat junk food all day), you'll be helping the environment and animals.

I've been a vegetarian for about 10 years now (I'm currently 24), and there are so many things to eat. Of course, you have to stay away from all meat (including fish and chicken, which some people do not consider "real" meat- I say anything that had a face is considered meat). You'll also need to read labels on food. A lot of things include animal fats or broth, such as some Pasta Roni or Rice-a-Roni type meals and even Twinkies.

There are some really good vegetarian "meat" products, such as burgers, hot dogs, "sausage," lunch "meat," "chicken" nuggets, etc. Some of my favorite brands are Boca, Tofurkey, Morningstar Farms, and Gardenburger. Vegetarian meats are good to eat because they are high in protein.

Here are some other good things to eat: pasta with tomato sauce, burritos, vegetables with rice and topped with cheese (my favorites are green beans, cabbage, and cauliflower), frozen cheese pizza, homemade "Egg McMuffins" (using an English muffin, vegetarian sausage patty, egg, and cheese), fried rice with vegetables, vegetable fajitas, sandwiches, salads, fruit smoothies, nachos, and mashed or baked potatoes. Of course, there are tons of frozen and boxed meals that you can eat, such as macaroni and cheese, pizza rolls, egg rolls, pad thai, and even some varieties of Hamburger Helper (just add fake meat crumbles from a company like Yves or Lightlife instead of real meat).

There are tons of really good recipes available online. You may also want to buy a couple of vegetarian cookbooks.

Some neat places to shop are Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Wild Oats. They're more expensive than regular grocery stores, but they have cool products that you can't get anywhere else. I like to go here every now and then to get some special meals.

Have fun with your new lifestyle. It's much healthier overall, and you'll never run out of things to eat.

If you're doing this to "be cool" you won't be happy. It's a serious lifestyle change.
There are many different types of vegetarians. What kind do you want to be? Some eat fish, some eat eggs and milk products and others eat/use absolutely no animal products at all, which can extend to not wearing leather or fur or silk (all animal products) or even using hand lotion with lanolin in it (from sheep's wool) or perfume with musk or other animal-related scents, or anything with beeswax or honey.
You can eat junk food and still be a vegetarian. Whether any diet is healthy for you is up to you.

as far as is it cool? i think the social stigma is less than it used to be, but you will probably still get teased some if you are young. and as far as what to eat.. that depends on how strict you want to be and if you stop at being a vegetarian or go as far as a vegan. some people call themselves vegetarians but they still eat fish, others don't eat any meats period, and still others will not eat meat nor will they eat any animal byproduct.. milk, cheese.... all a no no for some of them... so it really comes down to how strictly do you want to practice this? also make sure you are getting the nutrition you need that you are missing from meat.. (iron and protein mostly)

TO Most vegatarians this is a LIFE STYLE not a coolness thing .. Most people do this because of all the crap that is in meat and pesticides that are in our vegtables.
If your going to do this do it to preserve your health ... Vegatarian means more or less no red meat ... Go to your local heath food store and get a book on the subject and ask one of the people who work there ,, they are usually really knowledgeable because its a common way of living... they can help you . its not about being cool its about how you live your life. like eating a big mac and drinking a diet coke.

Being a vegetarian is a complete lifestyle change, if you want to do this you have to be serious about it. If you don't take vitamins and iron supplements you will get very sick and your immune system will crash.
