it may cause promiscuity. So in their eyes they think it is more important to try and make girls not have sex, then it is to prevent cancer? How backwards is that, and they have no proof that this would cause promiscuity, they are completely talking out of their behinds, how many of you actually think like this, and if you do, please explain your reasoning to me.

A vaccine to help prevent a certain type of cancer will make girls promiscuous, sounds far fetched and completely stupid.

is this simply another form of the war on girls?

If you recall, when the pill first hit the market the fundies were affraid that it would cause rampant promiscuity. This is the same. I am all for the vaccine. It will save lives.

I am not religious in any way, shape or form.

I think HPV is the virus they say causes cervical cancer right? If so i cant imagine anybody not wanting their daughters or wives ect to be protected from it if possible. Promiscuity can be prevented by good upbringing there is no need to put someone in harms way like that. I can maybe understand the reasoning they have for saying giving out condoms may encourage promiscuity but a treatment that may help prevent a disease not really related to sex is a whole other ballpark!

The report I read wasn't "It can cause promiscuity" it was "Moms and Dads don't want to believe their little angel is ever going to have premarrital sex". That's what I've heard most are scared of. The girls are going to get vaccinated in their teens, and, if I recall right, they have to be vacinated if they are promiscious. THat means that mommie and daddy's idea of their angel is shattered. If I'm wrong on the promiscious teens only being vacinated, then I do admit I can be wrong. That was something I read a while ago.

Again, it's more of a "Mom and Dad don't want to know if their little angel is out having sex and a vaccine that stops a cancer that is (from everything I read) mostly spread by sex means that the little angel is out on the town."

Some people are crazy and think like that. What makes the differences when girls can walk into a planned parenthood with out their parents and get birth control with out their parents knowing anything about it. So you would think they would want to allow girls to get the vaccine to help prevent certain types of cancer. If they choose to have sex they are going to do so regardless of any vaccine.

I agree. It does not prevent pregnancy, but get that form of cancer can. I think that parents and girls should use the right judgement in getting the vaccine. If got the vaccine, I promise I will not go a sleep with fifty guys, I just do not want a cancer that can be treatable.

I am Christian and have a 14 year old daughter. She and I have discussed this and she is getting vaccinated. She is strong in her belief of no sex before marriage, and I pray she makes it.
Her future husband may not be pure. This is no way promotes promiscuity.
This is a great way to break the ice and talk about sex with your daughters!!!

A vaccine is protection against a disease. It is stupid not to use it. It is not only "promiscuous" women who get cancer. I had a very nice aunt who died a couple of years ago of cancer, and she was definitely monogamic. It is completely stupid to deny a vaccine!!! there are other diseases, pregnancy, etc. to make people use a condom.

I know a child that was born with that in his throat because his mother didn't know she had it. Her stupid Drs should have known but he got it when he was being delivered vaginally. Now he talks like Froggy and has to have surgery every 6 months to try to remove the crap! Surgery twice a year for 12 years! It makes me mad and everyone should be vaccinated. No child should have to go through that.

It's another example of "end justifies the means" mentality. Religious people are morally lazy. They have their morals spoon-fed to them so they don't have to think about hard questions.

Religious people believe a morality because they are told to believe it. They haven't really thought about why something is good or bad past their "God said so" stance. That's why they end up favoring their spoon-fed lists of rights and wrongs instead of really considering the larger implications of their actions.

When you put so much emphasis on the welfare of invisible sky beings, you tend to put much less on the welfare of your fellow human beings. That's sad.
