I want to know because me and my friend both have 4-5 month old shitzu puppies, I have the female and she has a male....when would be the right time to keep them together?? And when are they ready to breed???

she'll be whiny and lick her vaginal area a lot, the vulva will be swollen and may drip a reddish liquid. BUT!! I would at least wait until the second heat....it's better on their little bodies and the first pregnancy is usually pretty risky....make sure both dogs are current on ALL vaccinations before letting them mate.

she will become swollen and produce a discharge. i would wait until shes 2 years before you breed off her let her fully develop and start to mature.
