HI There, I have been in your exact situation, I am 26 and just finished Nursing school. The thing you have to look at is this, what do you enjoy doing? What kind of hours do you want to work? I went with nursing because the start up pay is amazing, and I am a night person, i could work at night, sleep while kids are in school and then be up for them when they get home. Nursing school is hard though, it take a huge commitment, but you can always find a job. the down side is it is hard work, you have to like people and be partial, you are the patients advocate. Paralegals dont get to help people as much, you don't get that warm inside feeling at the end of the day, also the hours are pretty straight forward. But if you enjoy the law this could be pro. Accounting is great if you like math, but the job field is a little more stiff. Computer tech is always going to be in demand in big cities, you need to look at your geographics for that . You are looking at alot of different choices, I suggest you take some general classes, you can take computer tech and accounting classes as gen eds so I would take them first and see how you like them.

I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology. I love counseling others and helping them reach their full potential. Now, to answer your question, you can always find a job as a nurse, but if you choose to enter that field, there is a shortage of "psychiatric nurses" with a psychology background and this is a strong field right now. The hours for a nurse are crazy however. Best wishes to you and how selfless of you to put your family first. I too am now a stay at home Mother and do not plan on returning to the workplace for a few more years, and then I will probably just perform therapy part-time. Take care.

Nursing definitely.
Computer tech is awfully vague. Accountants can't always find jobs. A paralegal does all the dirty work for lying lawyers.
There are always nurses needed in our local newspaper, go for that career. You won't regret it!

Just this week they posted the latest employment outlook. According to projections - anything in the health care field is and will continue to be in high demand. As us "baby boomers" age - there will be more demand put on the already strained health care system. You might look at things in that area - including nursing or other medical specialties. The positives are guaranteed employment and a decent salary - not to mention helping others.
