My word documents duplicate but with a $~ or ~/ something like that and other icons too. They are also always shaded as if the properties are set to hidden.
And in My WINDOWS folder it's even worse there is a list of them in blue and it seems like the list is getting bigger. They're titled like this $NtUninstallWMCSetup$ or $NtUninstallKB922616$ . I have run Nuker Spyware and WINDOWS Defender and it found some things but the rest of that stuff is still there. This is how I got the computer and actually it's a DELL labtop. All these problem files are always set to hidden. I also need to know how to disable the touch pad because I use a mouse. How do I find and get rid of this bug?????????????????????????

The Word documents and other icons only duplicate after the program is updated and closed.
The folders in WINDOWS are blue.

I want to to disable to disable the touch pad because it moves the mouse when I'm typing and the buttons are sensitive, clicking and moving the mouse while I'm typing but actually I think that's part of what's wrong too.

The Word documents with the ~ and other funny first letters are all temporary files. When you are writing in Word, it does an autosave of your file every few minutes so that in case of a crash it can recover the file. You can safely delete those files. Or if you are worried, move the to a new folder and if everyhting is OK then delete them in a day or two. If something messing up, put them back.

The $NTUninstall... files are used to uninstall Microsoft updates should they fail for some reason. If the file is more than a week old, you can safely delete them. While there are a lot of them, they are tiny in size. Deleting a hundred of them will give you disk space for about one MP3 file. But if you are like me, you hate having them listed - so nuke them.

when you work in word for your safety it makes a copy of the document you are working with and that's why you see the $ signs is a copy of your document. Its supposed to be deleted after you save and exit not keep it and the other files sound like either updates for office or windows itself that you might have downloaded and saved on that folder without knowing. My suggestion: copy all the files in question or better copy the whole folder ,save it with another name and then after making sure you have made the copy start deleting from the original folder and test with word to see if the open OK . Hope this clear a bit your ? And the pad if you attach a mouse to your laptop the pad still works but also the mouse so there is no need for the disable pad . I had one laptop at one time that did disable the pad when you got a mouse connected but it did it auto i just had to disconnect the mouse and the pad will be operational again.

Leave your windows folder untouched unless you actually DO know what you're doing....by the way, those folders are no harm to your computer (they take up some space though)

as for the Word documents that are shaded and whatnot...have you noticed that that only happens when you have an open Word/Office document and you have made changes and saved them without closing the document? they're temporary files and they will disappear once you close your Word document. So, don't worry about that...

The word documents are really temp files of your documents that you're editing. If they are accumulating it could mean 2 things:
1. you are not closing word (or your computer properly).
2. you Are not closing word or your documents, you are just minimizing them.

When you close Word properly it should delete those files.

The ones in Windows folder I suggest to leave alone. Those are uninstall folders for the security patches installed on your PC. They are also used when you apply an service pack. So leave them.

Go to MY COMPUTER, click on TOOLS then FOLDER OPTIONS and then look for the tab marked VIEW.

Find the section marked HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS and click on DO NOT SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS. Click OK

The files you mentioned are NOT spyare or anything like that. For a user such as yourself, looking thru hidden files and folders can get you in BIG trouble. Leave that to the professionals.

This is normal. The MS Office ones are temporary working files that normally disappear when you close MS Office. If they don't you can delete them.

The $NTUninstall... ones allow you to uninstall Windows updates that you have installed. It's best to leave them alone. If you're sure that you won't ever need to uninstall the updates, you can delete them.

You don't disable your touchpad. Just use the mouse and don't touch the touchpad.
