I have a boyfriend. I also have a friend that I've grown up with and see him every so often. He too has a girlfriend who he once tried to break up with and then she tried to kill herself. He got back with her. We have always had chemistry/a thing and hooked up throughout our teenage years and when I moved away to college. Saw him recently and he decided to tell me that he was "hopelessly in love" with me. He then whipped out the most beautiful engagement ring I've ever seen. He said he bought it four years ago. I didn't take it, obviously because we both are in a relationship and he didn't exactly propose. Since then he's been kind of distant and not calling me. Last weekend he messagd taht he wanted to see me and when I responded, he never wrote back. I am beyond confused. Why would he do that if he loves me like he says. I think about him and everything he said all the time as we have so much history together and that night brought back all of those feelings. Advice, please?!

I dont know a lot of the details so it could be 2 things: The poor guy just wants you really bad and since you havent shown that you feel the same he has backed down OR He has changed his mind.

By the sounds of things, he sounds serious. You guys need to talk. But b4 you talk YOU need to make up your mind on what you TRULY want to do. I know how it feels cuz I was going with my boyfriend for 7 months and I loved him very much and I lost my virginity to him. Then I broke up with him, decided I wanted him back, and he never did truly come to me. SO I found someone new. Then I told him and he then ALL OF A SUDDEN comes back with a "ring." Complicated situation. I think the best way is to call this guy you grew up with and have a long heart-to-heart talk. Don't assume anything, just talk about the situation. Perhaps he had high hopes that you will accept his proposal, and I imagine was very nervous and goofed. Probably he's feeling a bit down and afraid to talk to you again. well it seems to me that before when he was with this other girl he didnt get to tell you how much he cared about you, but then after going to college and finally seeing him again he tried to gave you a ring and told you how he felt but you refused crushing his heart. think of how it would have felt if you were in his shoes. you guys have both obviously cared about eachother for a very long time.
