Shi'a
This literally means "party" or "partisans" but refers specifically to the "party of 'Ali and his descendents."

The Shi'a supported the claims of 'Ali and his line to the right to the caliphate and leadership of the Muslim community, and on this issue they divided from the Sunni in the major schism within Islam. Later schisms have produced further divisions among the Shi'a over the identity and number of imams. Most Shi'a revere Twelve Imams, the last of whom is believed to be hidden from view and waiting, rather than actually dead.

Sunni
This is the name for the larger of the two major divisions of Islam. The Sunni, who rejected the claims of 'Ali's line, believe that they are the true followers of the sunna, the guide to proper behavior set forth by Muhammad's personal deeds and utterances.

during prophet Muhammad, there was no such a thing called Sunni, Shia, or any of these names, therefor i call myself just a muslim who submit to Allah. however the closest one to Muhammad path are sunnies.

God has warned from being Shia even befor its existance:
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَرَّقُواْ دِينَهُمْ وَكَانُواْ شِيَعًا لَّسْتَ مِنْهُمْ فِي شَيْءٍ إِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُمْ إِلَى اللّهِ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْعَلُونَ (159)

to those who can read arabic, they will find the word Shia in the verse.
[159] Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects (all kinds of religious sects), you (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is only with Allâh, Who then will tell them what they used to do.

90% of muslims are sunnis. Shia islam is a cult that is only really found in iraq and iran. they curse the Companions and Aisha. May Allah guide them.
