Your Reception is bad!, Well, there's several options, but you'll have to try a few. First If your new apt is on the ground floor, It is the worst place for reception, Unless you live in a metro area. You'll have to get a amplified antenna to hook up to your Sony. or locate the Master antenna jacks in your new apartment if you have them ( ask the landlord if he knows.). Move the antenna to a new location ( The coax cord may be Short) even if it two or three feet, If it shows signs of better quality pictures you may have hope. You may be in a area that is what is called "fringe" from a TV station(s) which means your at the mercy of the Cable company or Satellite service. Hope that there is a "Master Antenna" on your Apt building to save the head aches.....You might ask the landlord what the previous tenant had for reception...By the Way Don't go spending money on the TV just yet..."If it ain't brike don't fix it!". To test the TV connect your VCR to it if it renders Good Pictures while on Channel 3 or 4 then the TV is fine! Back to reception issues.. .....

Good Luck

Do other people in the apartment block have bad reception too?

If so, there is a problem with the antenna and/or its distribution system. Ask the landlord to sort it out.

If other people in the block have good reception then it is a problem with the antenna feed to your apartment. Ask the landlord to sort it out.
