I have been in christian school my entire life. I believe God died for me and has blessed me with so much. But I don't feel like I'm on fire for Him. I don't have that passion and desire for Him. Everyone says that when you are saved that He changes your life. I don't feel that that has happened to me. I don't want to be a luke-warm Christian. I question if I really am saved, I screw up so much. I'm scared that if I died, I'd go to hell. I want an ongoing relationship with God..Help!

"Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled." Matt.5:6.The devil is trying very hard to steel your peace and sow doubt and unworthiness into your heart. You rebuke that thief in the name of Jesus!Jesus loves you so much he would have came and died just for you,now come boldly to Him and believe.Note that it says "Blessed are they"that means you are blessed for the way you fill right now.God can use you because you recognize the need for Him.God does not need strength or wisdom in us, He has plenty of both, not to be compared to ours. What He does need is an empty vessel that He can fill, amen.Your that empty vessel that He is getting prepared to fill, that's why you fill as you do.Jesus last words to His disciples before He ascended into heaven was that they go into Jerusalem and "wait for the promise" Acts1:4b.Waiting is sometimes very hard to do especially when you fill a need.Waiting produces patience Jesus told His disciples "In your patience possess ye your souls." Luke 21:19.Every make a hasty decision or give up when you were just about there?Remember how you regretted it later ? Apply this to your walk with God and you'll have no regrets. Now it says in Acts that while they waited that they continued in one accord in prayer and supplication. They kept doing what they knew to do and waited for the promise of the Holy Ghost.Their are many Christians today that don't know about the Holy Ghost because it is not preached about, and some have abused it so it is talked about as if it was wrong. It is not wrong, for it is not just some words with in the Bible that doesn't apply today but rather a promise from God and I want all of His promises, amen. We are to covet earnestly the gifts of God.Sister, I am sorry if this turned into a sermon but I see so many giving up when their just about ready to be "filled"as Jesus promised. Please continue to be faithful, the worst witness I have ever seen given is by those who fill no need for Jesus.Bless you for being hungry for you shall be filled.

First Let me tell youwhat I am. I am not a cookie cutter Christian not at all. I am a long hair biker that is a faithful believer in Jesus Christ. I have hair half way doing my back, I ride, I hang out with bikers, I wear Black most all the time.

The fire that I have has come from wanting to know more about this Jesus. I read the Gospel of John first. Why? Because it is written that you might believe. Then the other Gospels, then Romans. First learning what it meant to be a Christian, without know what Jesus did all that other stuff is just crap. When you look at What Jesus Did then you will see that all the stuff you were told before is different.

It is not about the Thou shalt not, but go and do. 2 greatest commandments are about love. Love God and Love your neighbor. Again look at what Jesus did, who he did it for and ask why. The answer is there just waiting for you to look and find it.
Someone is at the door knocking, just get up and open the door.

Don't search with your mind but with your spirit, what your eyes won't see the spirit will. Check it out. and then stand back and watch.

I don't know if that helps, but I understand you. Had the same problem at High School and still feel like you now that I'm graduating from University. But I believe Jesus died for normal people, sinner people, like me. Otherwise, what would be the meaning of grace? Being in connection with God is more an exercise of strenght of will than a miracle of continuous happiness. I believe emotion has its place in Christian life, but I give reason a bigger part.

First of all, where in the Bible does it say that you need to "feel" like you are on fire for God? You probably don't have much of a passion and desire for him, because you don't know him. There is so much emphasis on expreience in Christianity now that acquiring knowledge from scripture about God is left out. The more you know someone and find out how wonderful they are, the more time you will want to spend with them. Let me suggest a couple of books. "Knowledge of the Holy" by Tozer, "Systematic Theology" by Wayne Grudem, and "The Pursuit of God" by J.I. Packer.

In most churches, you only ever get fluff. This is really good stuff for you to work through. It all comes from the standpoint that the Bible is the inspired word of God. These are all big names in evangelical Christianity, not theological liberals.

The more you really get to know God, the better your relationship with him will be. Oftentimes, people basically conjure their own God from their life experiences rather than learining about the God of the Bible.

My suggestion is to go back and read the bible again and this time higlight things you do not get or things you really feel touched by. Meditate on those things for a while. When it all comes together, you will start to feel a change. Start making small changes at a time in your lifestyle. Volunteer one day a week or month to helo with a food kitchen for the poor. Donate what you have not worn in a year to the good will...do not ask for a receipt, as you are to give freely without expecting recompense.Get involved with a bible study group and do not be afraid to ask questions or voice your opinion, even the disciples argued. As you start to remake your life you will see thins being manifested in your life for the good and the fire should start getting hotter as you go. Take time to visit a nursing home and read to the elderly that cannot see to read for themselves anymore. A donation of your time is worth more to those who you help thatn your money. Time is remembered by those who you lift up even for a short while. Money fades.

I know what u mean and I know how you feel....i am a christian but I kinda backslided but anyway when I became a christian there's nothing really physical to feel or no big change that comes about. Just the fact that ur a christian and you know ur going to heaven once you do HIS will is good enough. You're doing the right thing and ur not being lukewarm either just continue to do HIS will, spread HIS word and fellowship with ur chirstian brothers and sisters as much as you can andyou'll feel be on fire for God as you began to learn more and more. Good luck with that and don't yield to temptation!

If you aren't sure if you are going to heaven then you probably aren't really saved.
I was like that to for quite a long time. Then I figured out that I hadn't really given my whole life to God and I hadn't surrendered everything. Plus I had to really discipline myself. I woke up a lot of mornings ( I still do) and I didn't want to read the Bible and pray. But I did it anyways. What God made us for was to praise him and worship him and I found that once I started to do that every day then I was so much more happier and more on fire for Him because I am doing what I was meant to do.
Hope this helps you. Just seek God. Talk with people who are on fire for God.

"Faith comes by hearing the word of God"
Whenever I feel I am not close to God it is me that pulls away. So to feel his presence again I read the New Test. I pray first for understanding. Talk to God, ask him what you need, Many times the answer come from other Christians I have found.
If you fear you are not saved;
Get on your knees and tell God you are a sinner, tell him you are sorry for these sins. Have you been water immersed baptized? Baptism in the bible MEANS immersion, when Jesus dipped his bread in the wine it "dipped' in the Greek was immersed! There are no babies baptized in the bible-one must believe, repent first always. We are baptized into Jesus' death Romans 6 and for remission of sins-"Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38.God IS REAL, I KNOW it! He knows your heart :-)
God bless you dear in your search for closeness to our creator who love YOU very much!!!

That's way too much pressure on yourself to be something that you're not babe. So let's say that you convinced yourself to be as exciting as say...Jim Baker or Pat Roberts (just examples here...I frankly don't care to hear the opinions of their fan club members).
Would you REALLY consider that an accomplishment?

It's very likely that Jim Baker and Pat Roberts don't like being Jim Baker and Pat Roberts. They're doing or did exactly what "moral" majority expects them to do. And I don't think you need to do extensive research to discover the underlying hypocrisy in their lives.

Do whatever the Hell makes you happy and excited. Even if it means taking a couple of hours today to give yourself some sticky pleasure in the toilet. If you do whatever you do with self-respect, great confidence--enough to be your own role model, you will be as ecstatic about YOUR life and the good you've done for yourself, and others. And guess what? That's honest and that's God.

don't give up, every Christian goes through the valley at some point in their walk. Just keep praying and reading your bible and asking God to fill you. It may not be instantaneous but if you have that desire it will come. God knows that what your true heart is and is pleased that you have this desire to follow Him.
