Large dogs are really adorable like labradors or retrievers, but i agree with some people here, why don't you look for one in a local shelter, cause one you find that cute look they give you, you will be sure to have the best loving bond with them. Big dogs are a lot of work too, i had a lab and he was a lot of work, lots to eat and lots of love to give ;) Good luck

you know, everyone thinks their breed is the best. I have chinese crested's. Lovely little dogs. For a large dog, I've always thought Golden Retriever's were some of the friendliest.
Go to akc.org and check out all the breeds. They have descriptions and video's.

Labs and golden retrievers are bred to be family friendly and loyal. My good friend has a golden retriever and she is an absolute sweetheart and extremely loyal to her owners.

Saint Bernard or a Newfoundland and big and lovable too. Leonbarger (not sure I spelled that right) are excellent too, but considered a rare breed and have a large price tag. Lab's, Golden Retrievers are also great family type dogs.

simply a labrador or a golden retriever perhaps.labradors are very friendly dogs and they can help you in many ways. Will always follow all your commands[if they are trained to do so]but if not so,it doesn't matter.

German Shepard without doubt. But if you decide on this faithful loyal dog it must have the right training. My grandchildren jump all over mine and use him as a pillow.

Check out this site, it may help: http://www.strongpets.com/dog_personalities.php
I know Labradors are very loyal and large, but maybe the above site will help determine all your needs.
Good luck!

I think that you should get a Saint Bernard or a Lab. They're really friendly dogs. My friend has one and they are very lovable. Those are some ideas.
