Run off reputation, thev've lost the quality while being in big demand. GM is parteners with the Toyota and Nissan/Renault groups etc. and uses Honda engines. You cant go wrong with GM, and the new ones have highly outscored Japanes rivals

Focus on the NASCAR crowd now that the Camry will be racing in NASCAR in four short months. Market how Toyotas are made in America and support the American economy and patriotism.
How ironic that the US nuked Japan 61 years ago only for a Japanese company to run a car in NASCAR in 4 short months?

I would say their strategy is build the best car they can for the money and make it trouble free. They want you to start out with an inexpensive model and have great luck with it and then buy a more expensive model. Once you buy a Toyota you will buy another. My family is on their 4th one and all of them have been great cars. Just perform the proper maintenance on them, oil changes ,etc. and they run forever!

Lexus - Toyota's luxury devision (35 and up), college degree, midian income $65,000 and up.
Toyota's triple blow strategy. They hope to lure you in as a teenager with Scion, then steadily move you up the ladder with Toyota, finally should you become wealthy enough retire with a Lexus in your golden years.
