Of course, God meets us just where we are, so we don't have to change to become Born Again. However, we still are in our corrupt human bodies, so are subject to earthly sins. But, if you read Galatians third and fourth chapters, Paul talks about the work of God within us to cause us to change to suit God if we let the Holy Spirit do His work in us. And of the importance of this. Galatians is only one place this is discussed in the New Testament. Smile, you have just heard some of the Good News (Gospel) and I hope it helps you. Go in peace.

Being born again is not something you can do and undo like a shoelace. If you study the last 2 verses of Chapter 3 of John, where Jesus talks about being born again to Nicodemus, you see that Christ boils down the whole born again issue to two statements.
"For every one that doeth evil hatest the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds be reproved.
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they were wrought in God." John 3:20-21
The test here being in what direction a person is going. To be truly born again, a person must be moving forward, honestly moving forward. If someone cannot be honest with themselves, they cannot be so with God. A person must be right in the sight of God, in order to be born again.
After all, being born again is a goal, not the start.

There is no magic way to stop sinning. We are sinful creatures because we have free will. Sin is very attractive to us.
I think it's in the Corinthian letters where St. Paul says that the bad branches can be cut off. Meaning the Jews left behind by God. And good branches grafted on. Meaning believing Gentiles.
And that this can happen over and over again. So we should not ever consider ourselves beyond sin.

Of course. Being born-again isn't magic. That's why the Bible-particularly Corinthians and Romans-speaks of renewing your mind. Addiction is just a sign that you have yet to understand who you are in Christ. Read the Bible and surround yourself with like-minded people.

Being Born Again has the same symptoms of addiction. I don't think there's really a difference. And if one person can have one addiction, they are prone to others. People who go from booze to being Born Again are really just trading one addiction for another, and I think both are harmful.

Yes, of course. Being a Christian means you have accepted Christ as your saviour and you're saved and forgiven for your sins. It doesn't make you perfect. To be a good Christian you have to focus on CHrist which would suggest that you try to overcome these things. Excess of anything is not good.

absolutely, Christians are not perfect, they are forgiven. The twelve steps that AA and most all treatment programs use are a roadmap to a spiritual awakening which seems to work with addictions of all types

yes, we still have our fallen nature. now is the time for us to be putting away our sins. if Christ is coming to gather His saints, how does He know who they are? wouldn't he have to do some kind of a study on mankind to find this out? only the righteous will recieve the kingdom.
