It is unfortunate. It is a needless expedition, like shooting oneself in the foot. The repercussions will be felt for a long time to come. First- the families who lost their near and dear ones. Second- The money spent. Total national waste of taxpayers money. Third- The loss of national pride and prestige in the international comity of nations.Fourth- It was unfortunately a wrong choice May be it should have been a "N" instead of a "Q" I do not know how the scenario would have unfolded.

We should not be piddling away the money on either front in my opinion. The war was idiotic at best and we shouldn't be paying illegals bills. Furthermore, one answer mentioned not filling the social programs coffers like when Dems are in office. We should be severly limiting that too because the socialist programs they want to uphold are doing nothing more than making the population dependant on the government.

I do not believe we should have even gone to Iraq. The Muslim people are peaceful people. The news does not portray that part of them. The news likes to focus on the extremist Muslim groups that are blowing themselves and everybody else up. I am more concerned with the fact that illegal immigrants are coming over here and spending more of the taxpayers' money to have children and take up space in our prison system. I am concerned with the fact that most of the criminals in my area are of Mexican decent. They are meth users and dealers, they are child molesters and they are gang members, just to name a few. These are the problems we need to take care of, not some other country, who in my opinion, had no problems for us to fix.
So, people in the middle east, for the most part, did not use computers or watch television, or have video games. Look at what these things have done to our own country. We have sex predators and child pornography, to name a couple. So, you tell me, which country had the most problems before the Iraq war.

I am, and have always been, neutral on the matter of military intervention in Iraq (from 1998 onward). The president of the United States could have been harshly criticized for either invading or failing to invade the territory of the tyrant (in the light of several gross violations of UN Security Council requirements). Once the war is undertaken, there is no way to anticipate exactly how much it will cost the U.S. One just hopes that democracy somehow succeeds in Iraq, or else it will seem that all the money, in hindsight, was wasted (as in Vietnam). I am much more distrubed by the current president inheriting a balanced federal budget from his predecessor (Clinton) and turning it into a horrific debt accretion - OVER SEVEN TIMES THE SIZE OF THE IRAQ WAR COSTS. This was just mortgaging the nation, and it is grossly irresponsible. Those who are biased in favor of the president like to claim that the war on terror has produced the huge deficit, but Bush ran on a platform of returning hundreds of billions of dollars to monied Americans, and he delivered on his promise - and the federal budget was immediately totally unbalanced. These are the historical facts. Remember, the costs of the war simply have to be borne after the decision to invade was made, but the HUGE growth in the national debt - by issuing enormous tax rebates of non-existent money (the rebates were a tantamount mortgage) - was fully optional. The over two trillion dollars that have been given to monied Americans concerns me a lot more!

Well because Illeagals that don't pay their ER bills, which I am saying is nothing shy of a fact, have that expense paid by the government as a tax deduction if it's not paid outright by a public works program. That money will be important to us one Iraq has bankrupt our economy.

Aside from the obvious fact that our illegal popualtion is growing uncontrollably, using resources that were not meant for them, and the fact that after 9/11 we still have not figured out the need to have both borders secure, WE invaded Iraq. WE caused those problems. I didn't want it to happen, and neither did most of the American population, but we did it. So now, it is our responsibility to clean up our own mess. Now, if we could just get all those illegal sending countries to do the same for us!!!!

I'm against anything that uses up the Americans tax's dollars. that money should be spend on Americans.for roads, schools, new hospitals, for ss , for welfare for the Americans who spent their life working and one day they cant work due to illness or strikes..would another country come in and give the USA money?
that 300 billion dollars makes me sick. when i drive down my road its like being on a roller coaster..the roads here are in poor shape. all the kids here are in trailers at school not enough room for them in the main school. teachers losing their jobs because they aren't bilingual. That money could of went and help the katrina victims to help rebuild them towns..to fix the levees..
