People with liver disease often feel tired. They may experience joint pain, flu like symptoms, jaundice, and other symptoms. Liver diseases like cirrhosis & hepatitis cause scarring of the liver tissue. When the liver becomes so scarred that it can't perform it's many functions efficiently, the blood can no longer flow through it. It often backs up in the spleen, causes portal hypertension (high blood pressure in the veins near the liver) and no longer filters the waste products from food and metabolism is affected, too. The liver performs over 500 functions, so when the damage becomes so great, it causes many medical problems. Eventually the liver will not function enough to sustain life. Some problems, such as hepatitis b & c can be treated. If the liver is damaged beyond help, then a transplant may be needed. It depends on what is the cause of the liver problems. I hope this helps you.

I have fatty liver disease which the doctors attribute to my being diabetic. Unfortunately becasue of the liver disease, I cannot take over the counter meds. So... when I have a headache, backache or any other type of pain, I cannot take anything. Not to mention the fact that I need to go to the doctor all of the time.
