This will be easy to achieve. When you come into the house and the dog jumps up turn your back, stand still and ignore him. ( It is important to tell any visitors to do the same. ) Then walk through to another room. Once your dog has calmed down go to greet him but in a calm way...get down to his level and softly praise him.
He will continue to jump up while he is learning but if you and all visitors are very consistent it won't take long before he stops. Hopefully with one week.
This has always worked with my dogs. Good luck!

Friendly Hello,
I think the best thing to do is go back to basics. Some dogs do this. I have been to friends house and never ending jumper. Drives me nuts. Anyway, one of the things in basic obedience class we were taught was that when the dog jumps up on you. You use your knee in the middle of his chest not kicking him or being mean. Just to help you train him to not jump. Then when he does jump. You dicipline with apro. words (No). If you use the down command. Once in class he may mistake that as a dicipline. As we use down with a hand command to have our dogs lay down. So I think the word No would be more suitable. Be firm. Let your dog know you mean business and this behavior is unexceptable. I dont know how else to really help you. I wish I had more answeres. I guess this is what I would do if I were having this problem. Blessings, Kelly

I saw on a local television program this same question. Their advice was to place a treat jar near the door and to have people entering the home to get a treat from the jar. When the dog jumps they or you say no and when the dog calms down and sits to have them give them the treat and attention and eventually the dog will stop doing this behavior.

i'm a coach who deals with this on a often happening foundation. One. dogs who leap on all human beings is getting some style of advantages from it...even pushing the dogs off which comprise your hands, or perhaps kicking the dogs remains giving him interest, whether it is unfavorable interest it is nevertheless interest to the dogs. 2. one way is whilst ever your dogs jumps on you, turn your decrease back and walk away. His leaping motives you to circulate away. Giving him NO interest is the meanest element you're able to do on your dogs. 3. yet another selection is to get a water bottle, set the pump on bypass, not spray, and supply him a short shot of spray with out postpone to the face. you ought to purchase a delicate chief head harness, mutually as this is a education device, donning it additionally calms dogs down. If all of those fail, i might call a coach on the instant. running shoes ought to provide you a chit if all you desire is leaping, not obediance.

you see to it that yur dog is settled and sitting when your guests arrive, having him on a short leash[for yur leverage]
do not make a big affair of it or a big deal, if you stay calm your dog will sense your calmness, keep the dog sittng until your guests are greeted and welcomed. Then only, ask your guests if they would like to say hello to your dog. Make certain that you are in controll and that he remain sitting, also make sure that you and the dog are at least 3ft or so away from your guests.
then proceed with the formalities. eventually your dog will begin to act accordingly, controll of your dog is your responsibility.
The same goes for when you arrive home or leave, do not make a big deal of it. You should be able to come in, remove your coat , shoes etc., and then greet your dog. Begin by making your entrances and exits as non chalant as possible. Your dog will then begin to realize that the same applies for visitors.
I too had the same experiences with my rescued dogs. I learnt that my stess of leaving them and coming home to them only escalated their excitement. Of course they then would also attempt to jump all over any guests, I assure you this method is effective and kind.....

tell the dog off
this is the command for off you
off the couch bed
or anything else for her to get off
down is for laying down
dont want to confuse her
dont pet her or give any attention at all
just ignore her until she is sitting down on the floor calmyly waiting for your attention
if she knows how to sit make her sit
when she tries to jump on you catch her paws (legs) and drop her back down not hard just relocate
make her sit before shes loved on
that will stop that
also make sure anyone else knows to do this too

If she is jumping up to say hello, tell her to sit. Don't allow anyone to greet her or give her attention unless she is sitting - or at least has all four paws on the floor. If she is jumping they should just walk by her.
If she is jumping at them aggressively, get the help of a trainer.

You first have to train him not to jump up on you. When the dog moves to jump up gently raise your knee to greet him. This will block him from contacting via jumping up on you and others.

Teach him to sit and stay when you command him to. When people come in, use that command and make him obey it. You can also give him treats when he is good and obeys you, this will make him more willing to do what you ask.
