Do only certain kinds of people (based on location, social/financial status) still practice?

I saw a French movie, that took place in Tangiers, and a huge sheep was sacrificed in conjuction with a buildign project. There was also mention of withcraft and characters participating in "superstitious" rituals.

I'm curious about how prevalent these practices are and if they are limited to specific countries/cultures? (I know the answer seems obvious, but I have to ask to get specific info)
Thanks.

animal sacrifice to Allah is manditory for those who can afford once a year after the Hajj is done. associating with construction is probably more of a movie story or a local ritual but not Islamic recommendation, we beleive in the existance of magic but witchcraft is not Islamic, peace
