For the case of argument lets forget about all the superficial stuff and just focus on whether if the children of today grew up with out it they would have a better society, without the same pointless aruguements as we have.
If we weren't aware of religion, or told by our parents, would we instantly follow the ideals of science or would people be likely to regenerate the idea of a higher entity again. I think that it would be the opposite of today the majority would be convinced of sciences views as thats what they grew up to believe and only a minority would follow the idea of a god. but hey, im rambling.

Great question!

Yes!!!!!

Please consider these tidbits:

Jews for Jesus = Vegetarians for Hamburgers

God? He or She?

Church? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?

What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?

Does Imacculate Conception have anything to do with "VIRGIN BIRTH"?

Google Imacculate Conception and learn that is NOT.

What else do you falsely believe?

Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Can Gods die?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?

No Eternal sacrifice, big deal for a day!

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

Life after death is like virginity after childbirth.

If the flesh of Jesus died, what was seen walking and talking on Sunday?

If you believe this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to believe it too to validate you.

Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.

Believing and not thinking is like choosing to be lost.

P.S.

[Do Christians on Yahoo! answers feel righteous when they report questions they disagree or disapprove of?

As much as I'd like to sometimes...no. Some people need religion and it does provide a viable service at times.

My wish would be that all religions learn to respect and honor each others' beliefs. Hey, I can dream.

[I have no religion - I'm just me, but I am very spiritual and currently live a Pagan way of life with a heavy Buddhist leaning].

Yes I would. It has destroyed more than it has helped man. I think it is about to see it's passing here in the next few centuries anyway. A new dawn is upon us all, man will be enlightened and there will be peace after much trouble. The need for religion will pass. I beleive in God, but follow no religion.

Definitely. Religions are the worst institutions ever, as they're taking social progress back.

But I wouldn't just ban religions. If I had the power, I'd try for people to walk away, one by one, till religions were empty.

Need I say I'm an unbeliever?

I'm not atheist, I believe in divine power. I haven't been able to fit in any of the man-made god boxes called religion. If I could eliminate religion from the earth, I would do it in a second. Religion is our number one killer. Religion is the tool of the dark one.

I am Wiccan and love my spiritual path in life. And that's the point. I love my "spiritual" path in life.

The three major monotheist religions seem to have lost the spiritual aspect of their being. So to answer your question, I would eliminate any religion that is fundamentally controlling and in denial of their spiritual natures. And if in doing so I had to eliminate all religion for the sake of elevating our spiritual natures, then I would do it for that reason and that reason alone.

Why would I want to remove a catholic religion from the world, the atheistic belief on the other hand we could do without

Absolutely! There is nothing good that comes out of religion that cannot be obtained through secular means. There is however, a lot of evil that is caused specifically by religion.

agnostic-atheist
I don't have all knowledge, but until good evidence for the existence of a god is presented, i will not believe he/she/it/they exist(s).

You know, that is a very timely question:But us as individuals will
have very little to do with the dist ruction of false religion.Re;False
religion meddles in war and politics. "If anyone makes the statement
;I love God, and yet is hating his brother,he is a liar" (1john.4:20)
At matt.2:44 Jesus said "Continue to love your enemies".......
How many religions can you think of whose members engage in
war?False religion spread false doctrine.ie;The immortality of the
soul.....The bible says.."The soul that is sinning-it itself will die"(Eze.18:4)---"the living are conscious that they will die......The
dead are conscious of nothing at all"(Ecc.9:5)False religion tolerates and in alot of cases condones immorality..ie;Fornication
outside of marriage.gay marriage,etc.......But who will bring to
ruin the false religions of the earth? The book of revelation tells
the answer.Rev.17:1-4. A harlot is sitting on the back of a fear-
some beast.the beast has ten horns and seven heads..whom
does the harlot represent? She exerts influence "over the kings of
the earth."She dresses in purple, uses incense, and is exceed-
inglt wealthy. In addition,by means of her spiritistic pratice,(ALL
THE NATOINS ARE MISLED.Rev.17:18;18:12,13,23)...The beast
that the harlot rides pictures the worlds political powers.Rev.17:10
-13,False religion straddles the back of this political beast,att-
empting to influence its decisions and to control its direction.
Soon, though an amazing event will take place.:The ten horns
that you saw,and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and
will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshly
parts and will completely burn her with fire.(Rev17:16)In a sudd-
en, shocking move, the worlds political powers will turn on false
religion and completly destroy her. What will prompt this action?
Rev.17:17--"God will put it into their hearts to carry out HIS thou-
ght."Yes, God will call false religion to account for all the despicable act she commited in his name.In a stroke of perfect
justice,he will use her political paramours as his insturment of execution...What must you do if you do not want to share the
fate of false religion? "Get out of her, my people,"Urges Gods
messenger(Rev.18:4)...So you see false religion will soon be
brought to nothing by the political rulers of this world.

Depends on my mood

As for my religion, it's not really a religion, but I'm not going to tell you anyway.
