Exercise is exercise whether it is in the morning or evening. But, some experts say that it helps your metabolism when you exercise in the morning.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

Morning is the only time I can excercise, although it burns the same calories at any time. In the evening I'm always tired, or stressed out and just want to lay around doing nothing. Or a friend calls and wants to hang out so I screw the gym again. It is hard to wake up early of course..but thats the only obstacle.
Plus I can work out on an empty stomach (in the evening I have odd blood sugar faintly feelings when I work out) then when I get home I have a good breakfast and I'm off to work in a great mood!

Yes its true that you burn more calories if you exercise in the morning. Because the vital-systems and the muscles and tissues are fresh after the night's sleep. They respond to any stimuli quickly and adjust themselves during the course of the day. If you do exercises in the evening and go of to sleep, this may not be so and you accumulate weight instead of losing or burning calories. Also if after a morning exercise, you catch a sleep, the effect of the exercises will not be there. This is what i have personally experienced.

It's a myth. The number of calories you burn has nothing to do with the time of day that you choose to exercise. One of the reasons they encourage morning exercise is that it gives your metabolism a "kick-start" and makes it run higher throughout the day. Haven't seen any research to back that claim up though. But I can tell you that there is scientific evidence to show that people who don't eat breakfast within 90 minutes of waking every day are 450% more likely to be overweight than those who do...How's THAT for a good reason to eat breakfast every day?

I have heard this too.Don't believe everything you read, someone might have just had more energy and got better workouts in the morning. I really think you should exercise whatever time of day feels right for you. I exercise later in the mornings or in the afternoon because I feel my body is warmed up enough to take on running and weight lifting. The time of the day is not the key, It is how hard you push yourself that matters. Keep a good exercise program and find the best time of day that suits you!!

The amount of calories burnt will always be the same, irrespective of what time you exercise. But the argument is that if you do it in the morning on an empty stomach, more that will be fat. This to me seems sound. In the morning, your muscles is depeleted of glycogen and the body has to tap into the fat stores to get the required energy. So you might burn the same amount of calories at any time of the day, but will burn more fat in the morning.

It is a myth,

Actually if you excercise in the morning chances are you are excercising BEFORE you eat which is actually worse for you as your body has not consumed nutrients to give it energy for 8 hours (sleeping). The longest period in the day between meals. Just because you shut down, doesn't mean your body does.

So while you operate on no energy, your body "cannibalizes" (drops the most energy costly thing to keep) muscle stores to cut down on the amount of energy needed to run it.

Other than that (if you eat first) then it makes no real difference.

Truthfully the best time to excercise is at a time you will be able to stick to it.

Its just a myth, You burn the same no matter what time of day you work out, its just that if you do it first thing in the morning, You'll feel better for the rest of the day and are more likely to continue in healthy behaviors for the rest of the day too.

I think that the thought is that you will increase your moving about throughout the day. At night, for example, you would exercise and then go to bed.
