Oooh - difficult one.

Although I rarely bake, I love vanilla, and would miss vanilla pods.

We use a lot of olive oil, though these days I don't know if it really qualifies as a luxury ingredient.

In fact, many ingredients that even just a few years ago were considered luxury are now common - Olive oil, balsamic vinegar, coconut milk (and indeed coconuts), fresh herbs - all sorts of things that were less than common when I was a kid (and I'm not even 40). My mother would never have dreamed that you could buy in 2006 a blow torch...for cooking!

I eat a lot of different salads, so Feta Cheese would be high on my list, along with anchovy stuffed olives. Considering the price of fish these days would you call that a luxury ingredient because I definitely couldn't live without any type of sea food.

Really nice Balsamic Vinegar.

Hmmm... just makes a difference to everything, even strawberries and ice cream.

Love it reduced down as a dip for some freshly baked bread.

Of course my first choice was Extra Virgin Olive Oil, but it's a necessity, not a luxury.

Royal Razorback Barbecue Sauce. It's made by a small local company, and it is so good my local grocer often had trouble keeping it in stock until he started buying like 20 cases at a time. I use it on lots of things: chicken, beef, pork, even sausages.

There could be many ingredients that season everyday living. Here I have chosen some of them, not all are a luxury but they definitely do freshen my life.

for eating: coco ice cream, white chocolate;
for seasoning: basil and good aromatic herbs;
for drinking: water water and water;
for make-up: lipstick in bordeaux by rimmel, foundation in natural nude or peach;
for clothing: clothes and accessories in pink, purple, bordeaux, burgundy and magenta;
for jewellery: platinum, silver, white gold and diamonds;
for living: beautiful calm place to live in .

All those are only the seasonings. The most important thing is to have inner peace and satisfaction by what you do and who you are. And to be happy To Be.

This depends on your definition of " luxury ", however I couldn't live without garlic or sea salt.

It has to be a decent balsamic vinegar. I use it all the time in salad dressings, stews, sauces and for dipping. You don't need much to add a really deep flavour to home cooked meals. For my favourite salad dressing I mix it with olive & advocado oils, dijon mustard, manuka honey and a dash of salt & pepper.
