It is a more natural way to swim and thus less stress on your joints.
It is also a safe way to swim in that you can keep an eye on where you are ( especially when in open / natural water ) but also pool swimming.
Sea Tip: good opportunity to remind everyone to always swim parallel to or towards the shore but never swim away from it.

The breaststroke is one of my favorite strokes to do, it gives me a leg and arm workout so I think you'd benefit from working out those parts of your body as well as strengthening your breathing and endurance.
