Because the Bible is written to be vague. One of the reasons the Bible is so popular is because people can tailor it to what they want to believe. If the Bible were really clear and made concrete statements that were consistent and unambiguous, there would be too many things in it for the average person to disagree with. You'd never get any converts. Leaders wouldn't be able to twist it to their own agenda.

Religions disagree on aspects of the bible because it would require them to admit that thye are wrong. When everything is taken literally,i.e. "eye for and eye", or when it is seen as everytihng is metaphoric, therein is the problem. All religions twist scripture to serve the purpose of the religous leaders. If these fools would remove religion from the truth of God then they would not have arguements over everything.

The Bible is the only authority we have. Man's doctrine do not come from the Bible. They make it say what ever they want it to say by saying it is spiritual. The Bible means what it says to it means to who it is written to. That is the key to understan your Bible. The whole Bible is written for your learn but the whole Bible is not written to you. That is why we are told to rightly divide the Word of truth. It is all true but the church is not Israel and Israel is not the church. 2 Timothy 2: 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Don't blame the guidebook for troubles had by the user.
The Bible is simple and clear, as well as truthful.
The problem is many people don't like the truths that it makes clear.
Jesus spoke truth and they killed him.
Why?
Many people don't like the truth they are hearing.
Its what 2 Timothy 4:3,4 said would happen.

there ya go, the hard part of taking the bible literally is it means you might have to admit you were wrong and some people you don't like or have a problem with might be right, hence all the controversy, sepratism and arugments.

people are imperfect, no one agrees on every thing. but most orthodox Christians agree on the major tennets of the faith. it is the little things that divide them: worship preferences, tradition, background etc.

Exactly. That's why sola scriptura doesn't work. Bible and tradition. That works.
