I see a lot of people here have a very negative opinion about Muslims and Islam. What made you think this way? What are your sources? TV? Books? Church publications? What your friends say? Do you know any Muslims in person? Have you read in the Quran yourself or have you just read a selection of the most violent verses that are quoted out of context?

I do not hate/fear/dislike Muslims/Islam. I also know that those who are true Muslims/Islam are very kind and peaceful. My husband was studying Muslim/Islam and knows how peaceful they should be. There are many people who pervert the Muslim religion like the "Nation of Islam" based in D.C. (people who shot MalcolmX) they are racist and prejudice and got some wrong info. somewhere. It is people like these who cause others to think Muslims are terrorists, regardless of what they may say Osama Bin Laden is not a real Muslim neither are any of the people who are with him. Just like all the people who bomb abortion clinics and the "God Hates Fags" people are not REAL Christians. Generalizations are wrong and dangerous. It causes hate crimes, and chaos. There are very few religions that if followed correctly would tell you bomb people or kill people. The worst reason for war or hate, or bombings is "God wills it" That is NOT what God is about! No matter what religion you are in or what God you follow.

have any Muslims reached out to others 0r try to show the true meaning of Islam? no. all the people who no nothing of Islam have seen are the terrorist and the bombings.there are some who have never heard of Islam and their first introduction to Islam was September 11.I have never seen any Muslims come on the news and denounce these killings.I have never heard the Muslims in my community say anything at all to defend Islam so you have to expect that some people are afraid of this Islam and the good and peaceful Muslims remain quiet as if protecting a brotherhood. In the black communities we are accused of keeping silent when crimes are committed in our neighborhoods, the no snitch law, well it seems to me the Muslims in America have that same mentality going for them. What different introduction the world is getting from a religion that many haven't heard of. The Amish. Many have never heard of these people until these killings and now we hear how forgiving they are,how they've extended their hands to the killers family.Would that happen if the children had been Muslim children ?would the Muslim community have extended their hands to a killers family in forgiveness?

I hate Islam, the religion. I hate the fundamentalists who use it as a reason to kill.

However, I've read the quran myself, the whole thing, from a concordance that the local mosque provided me (it was four columns, Arabic and three english interpretations, all lined up). I wish I had time to learn Arabic but I don't, so I read the three interpretations. What I found was a religion that gives non-believers three choices:

1. Convert.
2. Pay jizya and accept that you are second class citizens.
3. Die.

This choice isn't even offered to followers of other gods, or those who believe in no god at all -- they get the choice of Convert or Die.

This is not a religion of peace.

There are millions of peaceful muslims in the world. I know a few of them, and they're good friends. But according to the Q'ran? God's pissed at 'em.

I dont hate and fear or dislike Islam. I know a few Muslims and so far they all earned my respect.

Rather... I dislike and despise Osama and Fiends and all people whose actions give Islam a ridiculously negative and evil image (this includes the overly violent rioters and the supporters of Wahabbism). I dislike them just as much as I despise the hypocritical and radical Christians (as represented by the Westboro Baptist Church).

I have read the Qu'ran very carefully. I am not impressed.

I am aware of the history of Islam. I see so much rsemblance between it and medieval Christianity. Only in every way that Christians were wrong, Muslims are even worse. I have no confidence that they can live and let live.

Last I checked if you don't pay taxes in the U.S. you are a rebel and rebels are killed if they put up armed resistance.

Last I checked blacks are treated as second hand citizens in the U.S..

Last I checked the Ottomans allowed religious groups under them autonomy -- sure they couldn't really affect foreign policy or take over land -- but they got protection and the right of self-governance. In u.s., the group with the most money runs the show. Also, the nonmuslims were given dhimmi status, which exempts you from service in the army.

OH AND MUSLIMS HAVE TO PAY ZAKAT -- its 2.5% of your income, so in the end everyone muslim, non muslim is "taxed" -- just under different names.

I wonder what happened if Christians went to Arab Countries and placed bombs on airplanes. What would happen if Arabs were persecuted if they bought the Quran to a Christian country? How would Arabs feel if Christians build 1000s of Churches in their country but they would not be allowed to build a mosque???

Islam means suppression of womem
Islam means disregarding other religions
Islam means being ruled by the Sharia instead of letting religion enhance your life.

They are unhappy here? Good, the more leave soon, the better.
