I work as a bus driver, so u can imagine they dont deal often with maternity leave. i feel pregnant almost as soon as i started. they have just sent me a letter asking for my mat b1 and a form to fill in and some info, but all the info goes on about 18 weeks leave. i thought everyone was entitled to 26 weeks? is it maybe just old info they have given me?

14 consecutive days, so 10 working days in case you do 'typical' weeks and not shift paintings. you nonetheless get your typical annual pass away entitlement yet your business enterprise would have extra entitlements in place for maternity and paternity pass away and so forth so it quite is nicely worth getting a duplicate of the maternity and paternity pass away coverage out of your boss. Me and hubby have basically started mat and pat pass away so are nicely versed in this! basically remember to take your A/L formerly maternity pass away in case you would be on mat pass away while the A/L 365 days variations or you may lose it (and that i doubt your organization will remind you to take it!).

It could be that their information is out of date, it could also be that they are referring to a company maternity pay scheme, which would be on top of your SMP.
Either way you're entitled to 26 weeks, not 18.

26 weeks is the statutory minimum. You ARE entitled to 26 weeks.

Go see the Citizens Advice Bureau. No need for lawyers at this stage, but keep us posted on how it goes!
