I just started lexapro a few days ago. I started taking it at night, expecting it to make me drowsy, but it does the opposite. It's like having a few shots of espresso, get very energized and can't sleep at night for more than a few hours. I also get this feeling that blood is rushing to my head, it's a tingling sensation. I also noticed that sometimes my vision is blurred but it goes away in minutes, after i get out of bed. I would start taking it in the morning but I don't want my vision to be blurred while driving, so I figure night time is the best time to take it so that most of the side effects wear off by the time I have to get up. I also have dry mouth sometimes. IAnyone else having these side effects?
One good side effect that I like about lexapro is that it's helping me to not crave chocolate and other sweets. In fact some foods even taste bad now. Which I like, because I gained a lot of weight while I was on Paxil and it took a long time and a lot of hard work to get it off

Manic behavior on any antidepressant is a common side effect when you first start taking it. You should contact your doctor, though, and make sure you explain what's going on.

Dry mouth is a common side effect of lexapro that will probably continue off and on as long as you're taking it.

Contact your doctor, see if maybe it wouldn't be better to take your meds in the morning, if you can. Or see about a different medication - the vision thing is probably something to be at least a little concerned about.

Since you just started the Lexapro, I wouldn't think that your body has adjusted to it just yet. It can take some time for it to work in some people, up to six weeks. The dry mouth is a normal side effect. I take my Lexapro in the morning and have no problems with it. Call your doctor's nurse and see what they tell you before you change the way you take it.

if the lexapro is causing hypomania, and it sounds like it does, you may want to consult your doctor.
