I will just pick up and leave. I dont know the area and would like to know of areas that are not "bad" areas , but are least expensive to live in, at least until I can find a descent job. Also, can you tell me if I need a passport to go live in Canada or can I just go as an american? I would appreciate any honest, good information you can give me. I plan on leaving by the end of this month. Thanks for your time. Family matters are main reason I need this change. Peace.

I am not running away, I'm merely changing part of my life. I have money to sustain myself and my family for approximately 3 months , in that time I would like to have found a job in my field. I appreciate any information you can give me. Peace.

I find it incredible that you are mere days away from picking up and moving to a place you know nothing about. It is only a few miles to the border, but it is still ANOTHER COUNTRY. You can cross the border without a passport, but you can't get a job, insurance, registration. Where are you planning on staying once you get here?

You should take a little more time to sort things out. Otherwise, don't bother. I'd rather not have you come here and then turn to financial aid to get yourself on your feet.

What are you running away from?

-- Ok, you aren't running away. Then do take the time to research the move. Where will your kids go to school? What line of work are you/partner in? Do you need to be on the subway line, GO line, or drive? I live in the south west part of the city and I love it, lived in every corner of this city. I'd love to (and can) help you out more, but these are things you might want to consider.

First of all you do need a passport but you don't need a visa if you are an American Citizen..however you will need a work permit..go to the site below for useful information..and finally you can rent an apartment in North York which is approximately $500 to $700 a month for one bedroom (heating & hydro included) parking extra, it is a very clean area and is not far from downtown Toronto (approx. 20mnts if you take the subway) good luck
