I have always wondered about this, everytime someone brings up that hispanics have too many children but cant afford them the first thing that comes out of peoples mouth 's for justification is that they are Catholic and dont believe in birth control, but there are many Catholics out there who dont have lots of children without having the money to afford them. So trully what is the reason for having so many children and not being able to afford them. Is that another method of getting money like welfare and WIC and things of that nature for children that are now citizens because they were born here? Please enlighten me!

Oh and by the way I never said that I am judging how many children is too many I am asking why they have them and can not afford them that is just like bring a child into the world and not given them a chance to truly make something of themselves because you dont have the resources to help them! that is what I am saying it is not being jusdgemental it is being observant

Im a recovered Catholic. Now Im a non-denominational Christian as I do not agree with the Catholic beliefs.

The answer to your question (from my experience) is a faith that God will provide for all of our needs. I believe this to be true, although I agree with you. I have one 5 yr old boy and thats enough for me. Id love to have more but my wife is unable to bear children.

Reality is that some people are blessed with wealth, some have blessings in other capacitys. Each of us has a blessing(s) from God that make each of us unique. Any blessing can be taken away but ultimately, all things work for good for those who love Christ. Job for example in the Old Testament had all of his earthly blessings taken away including his health and he suffered greatly. His faith was steadfast and God restored 10 fold what he originally had. Many think this is a metaphorical story. We are all entitled to our opinions and nobody will know the truth until we exit this world.

Anyway, sorry for the novel...:-) hope this helps.

i dont think being Catholic has anything to do with why hispanic's have many children.
I think its more how they where used to back in whatever county they where in. We just cant say its Mexicans.
I work in a clinic and I see many people from other places that also have many children so its not just a Mexican Catholic thing. Back in their countries it was common to have many children since it was thought that they would take care of you in old age. But once you leave your country its not the same.
It just that they havent changed that way they view it.
Adding to the fact that they might just have children to get money from WIC and other programs like that, that doesnt make sense.
With WIC they just give you vouchers to get certain products until the kid is 4 or so I think. With welfare you cant even live off of it like people did before, thanks to the restrictions that the Clinton adminsitration imposed. Which are a good thing since they now have to do something about their living situation.

I'm Catholic... and I don't feel that is good enough justification for having children you can't afford.

Some may say that makes me a bad Catholic... but "higher education" is very expensive... and I don't think I'd be able to afford to send more than the two that are going now... and the one that will follow them in a few years.

The catholic church thrives on keeping poor people pregnant, ensuring there is another generation of poor people to fill the churches and their coffers.

China had the right idea - make it uneconomic to have more than one child. Once we have the population explosion under control, then limit to two per couple, so as to maintain a steady population.

Constantly having children you can't afford is unfair to the kids, and a huge burdon on the world. Increasing the population beyond that which can be sustained by our planet is wholely irresponsible.

Good observation.

Do you know about "Propogation" of one's religious beliefs in the world ? Catholicism has this as their side-interest in making rules against birth controls. This way they achieve the following two objectives :

1. More Catholic childern coming to world. More population of Catholics in the world.
2. Old belief regarding sex being for the sole purpose of procreation (giving birth to children) and for nothing else is reinforced by such rules.

Do you know how harmful this is ?

First of all in today's world it is very unsafe to have sex without proper protections which amounts to birth control.

If many people follow this rule literally then the situation in the world will go totally out of control. Frustrated people who can have sex only for procreation will get so frustrated that it will become dangerous for any lady to go out alone any time during the day or night and in any place. No place will remain safe for any lady. That is if this rule : sex only for proceation : is followed literally by many (or majority of masses). Do you see the logic ?
Even U.S.A. Law enforcemnets can't prevent this mishap if the rule of sex being only for procreation is followed literally by many many people.

I know alot of Catholics who use birth control, and many protestants who have tons of kids. Responsible childbearing and childrearing is not so much a religious or racial thing, it is usually an education and personal choice issue. People with less education usually have more children. This could be the result of many factors in their lives. As a nurse who has worked in this area, I have seen many of them. Only a few of those cases I believed to be irresponsible behavior on the part of the parents. Many times it has been lack of education about sex, spousal or family pressure to have more children than desired,
and -especially in the case of devoutly religious people- extreme discomfort at the thought of having to discuss sex or having annual women's health procedures(such as a pap smear) be performed.

They use them as a meal ticket to the United States to get free healthcare, food, housing, and other expenses.. That's all their children are - PAWNS.

I always wondered how the mothers of seven children who spent their entire day taking care of them could come up with the money to support them on her own.

Chances are they're getting some type of assisstance from the government and we unwillingly hand them our own hard earned dollars - while she lays on her back and pops out more little monsters. Her husband should be more focused on his "hard work" instead of hopping on the good foot and doing the bad thing.

Neka the only justification of my opinion i can give you is that people go on about the illegal people ( mainly hispanics ) have many, many children, People believe that they have children to get welfare.
It is peoples personal choices though,People may not do it for the right reason, but it is personal choice.

Why do you fight one fight with another?
Why bring something else like religion into this.
That is low.
The fact is that Illegal Aliens get more slack for having kids because they can't even pay for themseleves without scamming the government, Let alone children. & they have come illegally.

Not all catholic women have many children, neither do all hispanic women...

I love Unitedwestand's answer.

Being Catholic doesn't justify it at all. They are just leeching off of the system and it's not right. It's plain stupid to keep having all of those kids when you claim you are poor. The children are the ones who suffer from the stupidity of their parents. What kind of legacy are they leaving their kids? I don't think they care. You are right, the children are just more welfare and food stamps for them.

You are correct that one of their motivation is that the more kids they have the more money they get from the government. It's a bad incentive. We should give them no money at all unless they become surgically sterile.

Like I always say, you have to have a license to have a dog, but any idiot can have a child.
