it should be discussed, not assumed.

No way, why should they? They have invited you out to have fun and it's generally hard enough for the inviter trying to co-ordinate everyone and probably booking the table e.t.c. You should just be grateful they have thought you a nice enough person to invite out.

You'll be expecting them to pay next!

No. If you want to go, then get yourself there. I never even assume the inviter pays for the dinner. You should go expecting to pay your own way. With friends, everyone is equal. If they offer, great, you pay next time.

Aw, come on, if your pals have invited you out you can at least sort out your own travel arrangements to and from the venue... are you expecting them to foot the bill as well?

Not necessarily. If they say, "see you there", then you are responsible for your own transport. If that is a problem, then you ask, "can you pick me up?" Talk about it and decide how you are going to get there.

No, not necessarily if they new you didn't have transportation
then they would of offered a ride to you. But since you have your
own transportation then why offer.

In principle, I'd say yes, but in practice this is something that people might not think about.
It's as easy as saying, "Could I get a ride with you?"

I would not have thought so. If they specifically invite you then they should pay the bill though.
