What can be done when she gets in heat, we have locked her in a cage and that helps(dont worry she is still taken care of in the cage). She also meows loudly, like she is yelling. Does it hurt when they are in heat? anything will help, thank you.

SPAYING is know to help a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Call and make an appointment. You do not have to wait until they are out of heat!!!!!!!
Otherwise, you wait it out and then get her spayed ASAP!!!!! Some cats only give you a month or so and then they are back in again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make the appointment NOW!

She is not in any pain but her hormones are raging and she is calling for a mate. This will go on every time she comes into heat and she can become annoying. She will roll all over the floor and lay with her backside up in the air and all this to attract the attention of a mate. Putting the cat in a crate will keep her secure from not getting out but the best way is to get her spayed. This will make her a nicer cat and all the boy cats will not be hanging around your house spraying and marking. When your cat is over her heat make an appointment right away because she can come into heat again very quickly.

If you throw a cat in a cage while she's in heat, of *course* she's going to meow loudly! We had a kitty in heat and we kept her inside so she'd stay away from the male cats outside (didn't need any new kittens, you know :P) and she ran all over the house, yowling and acting insane. If you're not going to let her out, then do get her spayed!

Please get her spayed. She and you are suffering needlessly. A cat as young as six months can have a litter of 10 every few months. If she does get out what will you do with the kittens? I used to work at a nationwide animal shelter and there were literally hundreds of kittens brought in constantly. There were so many that they could not all be adopted and since the shelter neither had the room or the money some were gotten rid of.
That is why I quit.
Right now there is a total of 9 cats and very small kittens that are wandering around our neighborhood starving. I am feeding them daily, which gets rather expensive, but I am trying to get them to trust me. Not far from me is a cat rescue that never kills cats and I hope to get them there. I am also trying to get ahold of the poor mom and get her spayed. She is still a kitten herself and I would gladly spend the money on her.
Sorry to preach, but this subject is very important to me.

Get her spayed (for the umpteenth time). It's the only way to make her comfortable. Locking her in a cage prevents pregnancy (thank goodness), but the kindest thing to do is get her spayed right Now!

the best thing is to get her fixed it does not hurt her but it dose drive her a little nuts in side cats go into heat more often then outside cats because there is always male cats outside so really the only thing that can really help her is to get her spayed

Nothing can be done for her - you can try to comfort her because they sometimes get scared of what is going on themselves. It doesn't hurt when they are in heat, though, so don't worry. She will get through it... and so will you. It is hard to not feel sorry for them, though...

She is in heat - it isn't painful, she's just craving...well, you know. Sorry, but the only answer *is* to get her spayed. Best of luck.

No I don't think it hurts them. I can only suggest if you know a way that calms her down normally try that. Pretty much you just have to wait it out.

It doesn't exactly 'hurt' when in heat BUT she is feeling a very strong desire that isn't getting fulfilled and so is driving her INSANE!!

How would YOU feel??

Getting her spayed will help her and she will not have to suffer with unsatisfied desires.......................................
