Yep, it's my favorite alcohol. You need to like anise or else you wont like absinthe. Just like other products there is a range of quality (and more expensive doesn't always mean better), ranging from vomit inducing to very good. Unlike other products there are no regulations for the name "absinthe" in most countries thus anyone can slap the word on their product and sell it as such even if it doesn't resemble absinthe at all, so you have to be careful what you buy. The majority of products made in the czech republic are not absinthe.
For general information as well as it's "legal status" in the US, see the wikipedia link in sources.
For reviews of bands (unlike the supposed "absinthebuyersguide" which just lists them) see the link to FeeVerte in source.

I love absinthe! Make sure you prepare it the correct way. Very refreshing... Do not buy the gimmicks (the ones with the high levels and such - like sebor) and you wont go wrong.
You can get it off the internet.... as long as it is for personal use they will ship it to you as a novelty item.
If you are new to absinthe - this is a good place to start - http://www.absinthebuyersguide.com/

i've had absinthe and was insanely bitter. you feel like you want to brush your teeth right after because they could be rotting out of your mouth. other than that it's not so bad. you need to make sure you pour it over a sugar cube, though.
while absinthe is illegal in the u.s. you can still get it shipped to you from the u.k and other such countries. you can order it online. i'm supposing you want to go for a kind that has wormwood as the active ingredient, which is the traditional kind.

You can order it from a number of places online. Of all the people I've known to do so, none have ever had a problem having it shipped to the US.
Personally, I'm not a fan of anise flavor, so I don't care for it.

I only tried it once and that was in an arty come non-main-stream cinema with a bunch of mates. We ended up having a pretend fight in a skip and the flat we all crashed at was full of traffic memorabilia. Although thinking on that could've been any Friday night come to think of it.

Depends on what absynth you get. If you get the proper, home brewed moonshine, it's fantastic. Anything you can buy in a shop is crap.
It's the same deal as Irish Pootchine, Protugese Firewater, Russian Paintstripper etc. etc.

Genuine stuff from France is the best. Melt sugar into it first and it will blow your mind. I had 6 shots and some beers and wine. Surprisingly I was plastered...
