I have a British Bulldog and when he gets really hot we will give him ice cubes or put the ice cubes in his water. It helps. I also give him a cool bath. If you just let them relax they will cool down but always remember they are very sensitive to the weather. They will over heat really fast and it could result in death. They are indoor dogs.

I have a bulldog. He loves ice cubes, also try a fan directly on him. They really shouldn't ever be left outside. They're strictly inside dogs- they can't deal with heat or cold.

I've never tried these but I know that some pet catalogs, like In the Company of Dogs have these harnesses and neck wraps that you can put in the freezer just like an ice pack. When they're frozen you have your dog wear them -seems like a good idea

I'm assuming you're talking about overheating.
As with any overheated animal, you need to cool off the core of the body. Cool (not cold) water on the body, and moderate air temperature.
If you're talking about just general keeping cool, my dogs have a pool that they get in (one of those cheapo plastic kids pools) when it's hot outside. I also bring them in during the hot part of the day, as we live in 100 degree weather during the summer.

Ice chips or frozen chicken soup. I make a batch of chicken soup (low sodium) and put it in ice cube trays in the freezer. On very hot days, or when my dogs have been very active, I give them one or two of these. They love them!!!!
