If you're a guy, it's practically inevitable that you will lose your hair as you get older. It's due to the male hormone, testosterone. There are exceptions, however, and some men retain a full head of hair well into their old age. The majority of men lose their hair in a "male-pattern baldness".
With females, it's a different story. Women generally lose their hair in clumps, or excessive thinning. Some suffer from a condition called alopecia.
The two examples I've given are the most common reasons for hair loss. However, there are other factors such as diet, stress, medications, etc. that can also cause thinning or baldness. I don't know any magic formula for preventing hair loss, but there are things you can try, like Rogaine, which works for both genders. Or there are always the hair pieces and wigs that provide realistic coverups. The best advice I can give is to consult a dermatologist. They are familiar with certain types of hair loss and can prescribe the best treatments and preventive measures. ( Incidentally, some women think baldness in men is sexy.)

geeze, try fish thickening shampoo, it helps, but it's not a cure. Apart from that start saving for a hair transplant. Otherwise shave it and embrace it
