Well if she knows he is in jail, theyn yes tell the truth. Honesty is better than setting up false expectations. Let heknow her Daddy loves her and will be home as soon as he can.

This is a tough question but since she already knows her Daddy is in jail you may as well be honest with her about how long he'll be gone. I would be careful to tell her how important she is to her Daddy and that he would be home sooner if he could. You may want to ask a child counselor about this just to be sure.Children don't really understand the concept of time. 2 yrs sounds like an eternity to a 9 yr old. Maybe you could say something like he'll be home for your 11th Birthday or something like that where she'll understand a little better. Just be cautious and gentle. It's alot for a child to handle.

Yes, she is old enough to understand. If she can handle daddy being in jail, she can handle the length of time he is going to be in there. Two years is tolerable, not easy, but tolerable. Use the experience to teach her the consequences to making bad decisions. Good luck.

A child deserves much better than some "jail-bird" dad! Tell her the truth!

Obviously she knows that he is in jail and probably knows why he is there.
Tell her the truth and explain to her what jail is. Tell her it is about being responsible for your actions and if you are not responsible, you must be held accountable for your actions.

Be honest with her. The way you handle this will affect your relationship with her for the rest of your lives. Be loving and kind and just let her know what's going on. At her age (any age, really) it's not knowing that's scary.

Yes. If you don't tell her the truth now she will eventually find out and know you lied to her and never be able to trust you again.

yes you tell her the truth..you want her to always trust you and know that she can come to you when she needs you and that you will tell her the truth..you don't want her growing up and not coming to you because you told her a lie one time
