Hi,
My wedding reception was 1,200 dollars for 90 people 3 course and waitress, waiters for the drinks and I was able to buy my own alchol for them to serve! How you ask? I booked the local R.S.L club, my money went to good cause and It was great I got a really good band and all the wedding caost 3,000 dollars. If yours is more expensive you could book a hall and hire caterers or even have a garden wedding. Also Weddings held at 11 am for a lunch reception is always heaps cheaper.
Oh have a great day anyway congratulations and wishing you happiness! Moon

yes you would be able too. you need to research it as well, and decide what type of menu you want and what your guest list is going to be. generally a catered meal will be on average $18 (min) per person. An open bar will tack on more so if this is a concern and you do want alcohol you can limit it to beer and wine and maybe one signature drink this will cut the bill drastically. Also, check into different hotels, halls, etc. Sometimes it's less expensive to have them cater your reception then hiring a seperate caterer. Also..one way to save is if your church has a hall that would cost much less then renting an outside venue and you might be able to splurge on something else. But if it's more location then it is food..consider having a lighter fare then sit down. Congrats and good luck!

That depends on the amount of people that will be attending and the day that you are trying to book it on. My sis just booked a wedding on a Sunday afternoon, inviting under 100 people with alcohol and it was about 4000. We live in Ohio.

My advise is to look into Local Clubs like the Elks, Lion, Moose halls. They have great areas for receptions and some even have kitchens, dance floors, places for a band, and all the tables and chairs you would need.
Talk to them they are reasonable. But you need to get on their calender early to reserve the spot.

Yes, I did and it has worked out nicely. Just keep an open mind where you want your reception. Try local universities, they often have wedding packages that aren't too expensive.

Look up Bed and Breakfest...They are usually around $2,500 for a reception on their premises..and most include food.
