Only TIME can tell. But don't worry, give it a few weeks/months, and you'll be able to laugh it all off.
First thing first, throw away or hide anything that will just remind you of that someone. Get a hobby (make a scrapbook, volunteer for a social activity) or anything that will keep you occupied than have the luxury of thinking or sour graping on a failed/lost relationship. Go to a gym, get a make over, try to improve yourself more (pursue masterals if you've finished college, take a culinary course/baking, etc).. in a way, you're helping yourself unconsciously move on and people will realize you're stronger and actually more productive being single and/or not being with this guy.
In this way, it'll help you move on and you have more chances of finding someone A LOT better. Goodluck! =)

I think it's really hard to stop unloving someone. That's why I think there are so many divorces. People really love other people, but have to get over the people that they really loved before. They try to replace the other people, but it doesn't work out all the time. When you spend so much time thinking about someone, how can you really stop thinking about them? It's like a part of your heart.

Why, whats wrong with being in love? I thought that was meant to be a good thing! Are you having problems or maybe got a roving eye? Is it a bad relationship that you can't get out of because of how you feel, or have you met someone that's already taken, and can't help how you feel, or maybe there just not interested? I really don't know how to help cuz your question's not very specific sweetie .

There is only one way. You have to find someone or soemthing else to focus your attention on. It can be really hard looking for somebody to love when there is someone else you love and for whatever reason you can't be with them. Your mind won't be totally focussed and it will probably just get you into the same provblems you are now.

Why don't you just carry on loving them and just accept that its not meant to be. I am doing exactly this at the moment. Nobody said life would be easy....

It really depends on how long it's been... Time is the best cure. If someone tells you to move on to someone else to get over them - ignore that one!! usually you find the rebound person who is MUCH LESS of a person than your X and it only makes you miss the person you loved even more! So time is best - and find something else to focus on - my focus is my kids - they're a great distraction

UGGGGGG..... That's a hard question?? Most people are not able to turn off their emotions like a faucet. It's rough trying to get over someone and UN-love them. I think in all honesty you never UN-love them. You will always care about them, because of your history together. Time... is the Key word....Good Luck!!

It will take time that's for sure. Distancing yourself is a good start. Don't forget to take time to grieve. You then need to accept that you don't want to be in love, so find a new direction to focus your attention on, whether it be a new hobby, job or school. You can get over it, but it will take time and strength.

if you are talking about real LOVE...thats gonna take a long long time...its like wanting to stop caring about the child you gave birth to...do u see that as possible?????....then again you can break up, run in your room and listen to depressing songs while staring at a picture of carrot top with only a mask ans ski gloves on...lol
