It depends on how you define "best." If you define it as "least likely to get killed in a war" then the Navy is the best branch.
The Marines are probably the most elite (in general) -- but also the most likely to get killed in a war. Each branch has its own elite units. Many consider Navy SEALs to be the most elite unit of the US military (it is open to both Navy and Marines).

I have had family in every major branch and every conflict since Vietnam. My twin is a Marine, I and my brother was Air Force, My BIL is Navy, and my dad was Army...I like and dislike things about all of them. It depends on what you want to do.

Air force emphasizes education. It seems like the Army and Marines just want to give you a gun and ship you off, unless you sore very high on the initial test.

My man was a Navy man and I am so proud of him.Airforce is good to. My brother is in theArmy and serving in Iraq and I am so proud of him. All branches have the perks of paying for college and all have good training. Good Luck!!

there is also those who think they are marines and then there are the infantry marines. I don't have to be a marine to know that. all forces are good in thier own way.
