Its seems difficult to lighten, only option is bleaching. Yet you can try using henna, it will give you a better shade than the dark one and also give your hair a radiant shine especially in the sun..

Depending on how much too dark it is, try a good clarifying shampoo, something from a salon like back to basics. Or if you have a Cost Cutters close, their brand works really well and is a lot less expensive than national brands. Wash several times with the shampoo. It will strip some of the color out.

If your hair is only a shade or two darker than what you want then try to use a clarifying shampoo, it will strip some of the color out. If it is wuite a bit darker than what you wanted then you should definantly go to your hair salon and have THEM lighten your hair for you.....the at home/store bought products will damage your hair more so than the hair salon..

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!! use this as a good opportunity to get some really cool streaks.......... go get yourself some highlights PRONTO.... you will look so GREAT!.
if you don't have the $, just get a Lo real Highlighter Kit, and put it on just a couple of hairs in the front. If you get carried away you will need low lights after that.(don't dye anything underneath you hairline) You can always do more highlights tomorrow, but once you go too light forget it.

I had to do this....I had black hair. It took me bleaching (hair bleach) 3 times before I could get it as light as I wanted....then I had to use toner and the toning shampoo so it wasn't orange then I used hair cholesterol to condition because my hair was severly damaged. Don't worry, it's a myth when they say your hair will fall out if you dye it that much

Use bleach, but remember it really damages your hair so use alot of conditioner afterwards.
