Grilled ham and cheese with thick tomato soup, a simple classic.
Use a whole grain bread, sliced thicker than the usual. Skip the enriched stuff. I prefer wheat over white. I use Monterey Jack and sharp chedder. I get a decent thinly sliced ham at the local deli and pan fry it for a few seconds first. Use a little garlic butter in the frying pan. Dip the sandwich in the soup. Don't forget oyster crackers for the soup!
Umm...Ummm...gooood!

Tomato soup and grilled cheese are good together!
I also like egg salad sandwhiches with vegetable soup! Tuna Salad is also good with vegetable soup.
Here is good egg salad recipe made with green olives - if you have not had an egg and olive salad sanwhich - you are missing something.
Egg Salad
4 hard-cooked eggs, chopped
1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
1 tablespoon chopped green olives
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup mayonnaise
Mix together the first 5 ingredients. Gradually add the mayonnaise until salad has the amount of moisture for your taste. Taste for flavor. Makes 1 cup.
