The correct tire pressure is is different from vehicle to vehicle. The pressure rating on the side on the tire it self is, as several people have already said, a maximum rating for that specific tire, NOT the appropriate pressure for that vehicle. The manufacturer puts a sticker in one or more locations on the vehicle listing what tire pressure that vehicle has been designed for. The most common location is on either the driver's door, or the driver's door frame, near the latch. I have also sometimes seen the sticker on the underside of the trunk lid or in the glove compartment, and it is always in the manual. One example of this is a Suzuki Samurai that a friend of mine had. The tires had a max rating of 35psi, but the sticker in the vehicle said they were supposed to be at 20psi. If you simply inflate the tires to the maximum pressure, the vehicle may not handle the way it should, which can be very important both in bad driving conditions or when, for a number of reasons, you need to make an evasive maneuver to avoid hitting someone/something. Again, the max pressure listed on the side of the tire only tells you the maximum pressure the tire is rated for, not what it should be at.

Correct tire pressure is located on a label either inside the driver door or the passenger door, on the door frame or the rear of the door. Do not use anything else the car is rated for these pressures and loads. using the sidewall pressure rating can lead to wear or controllability issues.

DO NOT go by the tire, the tire's psi is for max pressure while hauling.

Look in the driver side door either in the jam or an the door. some models it's under the lid for the center console.

The plackard will tell you the manufacturer's tire psi specifications.

IF you don't find it, you can't go wrong w/ 32psi all the way around.

If it is for your car, you might need a certain pressure. This pressure is listed on the label inside the driver's side door. If you can't find it there, look in your car's manual under "tire pressure."

depends on your tire. The recommended pressure is listed on the sidewall of your tire.

Look in the owner's manual or at the DOT label that is either inside the front door's lock-side edge or by the front edge near where the hinges are.
