how is that no getting free healthcare? Can a day worker pay for triple bypass? 80,000 dollars or more ..hell no..who pays ..american insurance payers.....They might get billed....but that doesn't mean they pay..half the time they don't even bother billing them.


Why is it assumed that illegals don't get free healthcare when almost all do...some even use fake ID ss# for nice state clinics for all sorts of free medicade care including shrinks....so piss off with that argument already

They get billed later, just like everyone else who doesnt have insurance and dont qualify for medicaid... simple as that

The hospital cant refuse to treat them,( a doctors office can) and they are billed,but most do not pay even if they are billed.That's why a lot of Er's in border stares are having to close.They are going bankrupt.The health services are
free if they are not paid for..With legal citizens the hospitals have a recourse, they can put the bill to a collections agency,get a court judgment and garnishee their checks.With illegals they cant find then in order to do that process.The hospital bills are then paid for in part by the government by legal citizens.
The illegal will use an ER as a primary health care provider,for minor things such as colds etc,so in fact legal citizens are paying for the health care of 98% of illegal immigrants.

The $1.3 billion in costs incurred by Arizona taxpayers is comprised of outlays in the following areas:

Education. Based on estimates of the illegal immigrant population in Arizona and documented costs of K-12 schooling, Arizonans spend approximately $820 million annually on education for illegal immigrant children and for their U.S.-born siblings.

Health Care. Uncom-pensated medical outlays for health care provided to the state’s illegal alien population is now estimated at about $400 million a year.

Incarceration. The cost of incarcerating illegal aliens in Arizona prisons and jails amounts to about $80 million a year (not including the monetary costs of the crimes that led to their incarceration).

The unauthorized immigrant population pays some state and local taxes that go toward offsetting these costs, but they do not come near to matching the expenses. The total of such payments might generously be estimated at $257 million per year.

The fiscal costs of illegal immigration do not end with these three major cost items. The total costs of illegal immigration to the state’s taxpayers would be considerably higher if other costs such as special English instruction, school nutrition programs, or welfare benefits for American workers displaced by illegal alien workers were added into the equation.

When I moved back to California with my kids during the dot.com crash, the job I had moved out for evaporated. Trying to conserve funds, I went to what was billed as a 'discount immunization clinic' to get my kids' pre-school shots.

The hall was full of never less than a school auditorium sized group of people, and as far as I could tell, my kids, my mother and I were the only ones who spoke English. We were there for hours and I was really rethinking the whole thing, but didn't want to hurt my mom's feelings by suggesting we leave (it had been her helpful idea.) When we finally got to the front of the line, everything whipped into high gear with four nurses and aides settling the kids, whipping out syringes, etc. One nurse/aide at a desk asked, routinely:

"Do you have insurance?"

I said "Sure." and pulled out my insurance card.

The entire room stopped and all the nurse/aides turned to stare at us. Clearly, that was an unusual event.

In the end, they didn't want to take the insurance info and didn't want to take a co-pay. I tried to insist but the 'head' nurse/aide told me in exasperated tones that with as many people as they had to give shots to, for her to go and get the forms to take care of that would really slow things down. So I didn't pay.

I do feel guilty, even though I actually did qualify, probably (I wasn't working and it took me 6 months to get a job, as it turned out.) I felt bad then, since I knew it wasn't their money they were being generous with.

However, they never asked for ID, just the routine question about insurance that they clearly regretted.

I keep hearing the same arguement over and over. Those advocating claim that the illegals DO get billed and then they can't pay. Well, I say thats part of the risk you take by not applying for citizenship first. Do you really expect us (legal citizens) to feel sorry for you??
Also, what about the hundreds of thousands of illegals that give false identification to the hospitals?? Who pays their bill?? Over 5000 illegal immigrants were treated at a North Carolina hospital in 2004, and not one, I repeat NOT ONE has paid one cent towards their bill! Guess who will be?! Me, my neighbor, my friends who all work 50-70 hr. work weeks to pay our taxes, our health insurance, our 20% of the the medical bills we incurr......OMG this subject makes me so angry!

What you say is true but I have been a nurse 31 years and I have had about 3 times more deadbeat Americans. The deadbeat Americans are getting food stamps help with their rent free school meals WIC and SSI. I have never worked at a hospital that did not bill every one.

that is the reason why all these hospitals are closing cause all these illegal immigrants thats why they say there will be no social security benefits in the future cause they are giving it all to them same for the welfare a american citizen that desperatly needs it has a hard time getting it . if they say they are illegal they get it in a minute good old USA.

Maybe, but somehow I highly doubt that many illegal aliens use the health care system. They would be afraid of getting caught and they would lose their job for missing an hour of work.

If anyone needed emergency care, I'd certainly hope we would care for them and I'm willing to pay for our hospitals to keep helping people, regardless of how they got here or why.

how can a hospital even bill them when everything about their life is a sham...name, address, ss#..... but then there are the babies every 9 months & a day...
