Have the kids make Christmas cards. You can buy the paper at Wal-Mart.
Have them draw or color christmas themes. (They are cute as can be)
Sell them.
(There is a cancer center in Ga that does this from their cancer patients. They raise a lot of money!)

You can also have the parents of the kids donate things and your daycare can have a yard sale fundraiser. (If you place an ad in the paper showing it is a fundraiser for the daycare and multiple familes... you should get a good turnout.)

There are lots of grants available for daycare centers if you search hard enough. I know the guy with the commercials (the one with suit that has question marks all over it) has a book out and a friend of mine got a couple of grants through there. Also if you pony up the money to print up tickets (around here its runs about $40) you can sell them for $1.00 a piece for a $500.00 prize and that means your day care would be able to keep the other $500.00. It is an easy way to fundraise with very little work.

Our preschool / daycare needed so many things I was amazed
I started asking the other parents to help out. One had a computer another had toys for the outside toys another gave food like soups and mac and cheese. p ad j
Before long the office was in stock with all the computer paper and printers and computers the school needed for a year.
thy children got two computers and those darn fundraisers were out the door.
Stocked up and each child was proud of what the brought to to teacher and te other kids.
Parents got write offs kids were proud and the school was full

Tell the kids parents you need donations for the daycare and have some kind of fundraiser that the kids will enjoy.

At my child's preschool, they got a deal with Safeway: they buy a sort of 'corporate' gift cards from them, and parents sell them, so people who buy them can use them to pay at the grocery store for the same money they paid for the gift card (which mans no extra cost for the buyers so that's why the sell so fast), and Safeway gives the school 8% of each sold card.

Maybe you could get a local sponsor who can do the same for your daycare.

Try Craig's List or Freecycle (internet). These are sites that often give things away. Also try an ad in a local paper. Go to yard sales at the end of the day. People are often willing to give away unsold books and toys. You might also try contacting publishers for their out of date books. Lastly, many local business have tons of scrap paper that they will save for you, if you ask. And grocery stores will give you boxes that make great building blocks.
