Yes. It is a kind of Lychee, a Chinese fruit that you might find in your local hypermarket. Its skin is sort of furry and peels easily revealing a pinkish flesh which is sweet and like no other fruit. It is not sharp in taste and the flesh is soft and juicy. There is a kernel inside which looks a bit like a small hazelnut. It is a delicious fruit , and the fresh ones taste even better than the ones in tins.

Yes, they are found in South East Asian countries, mainly Malaysia. They taste like lychee and they have a covering that looks like red hairy balls. Ummm...yeah, they look silly-funny but they taste great refridgerated on a hot day.
Anyone tried Jackfruit? Its also delicious , raw or battered fried. And you can eat the seeds when they are fried too. Delicious.
I mean the Jackfruit seeds, not the rambutan seeds.

Yep, it tastes like lychee, only that the flesh is a little tougher, and it kind of sticks to the seed. You might want to opt for canned rambutans to avoid the seed episode.

Wikipedia says not to eat the seed as it's poisonous (though this is disputed on the talk page).
