Catholics have no restrictions on dancing any time of the year.

I can see where there MIGHT be a prohibition on dancing during Lent. Lent is a time of repentence and soul search, our own "desert time" before the joy of Easter, so I can see where dancing MAY not be appropriate.
Advent is a time of anticipation, so dancing in joyful anticipation of the birth of Christ is probably appropriate.
BTW, the song "Lord of teh Dance" is a song that is often sung during Advent.

Never heard of not being allowed to dance during lent. But we do have to abstain from meat, and it is forbidden to say 'Alleluia' during lent. That's why we say 'praise to you lord Jesus Christ, king of endless glory" during lent. I suppose that is so we can rejoice on Easter Sunday of Jesus's Resurrection. Those are the only restrictions i know of though. maybe the Alleluia is what you were thinking of.

I've never heard of that one...
Technically there are no restrictions on dancing... anyone can dance if and when they want to. I guess it is only forbidden (or more appropriately discouraged) if its during a solemn moment where it may not be in one's best interest to be going around dancing (a.k.a. respect and decency).

i'm catholic, but i was never aware of a time that you can't dance. during lent, you just have to give up one thing, so that could be dancing.

you can do the RIVER DANCE. that way if the priest walks by your window he won't know that you are dancing.

as a matter of fact they can even dance nude on apole any time.lent or other wise. their is no commandments dealing with this
