What would you do if he shot you once fatally in the stomach. You are now incapacitated, dying a slow, excruciatingly painful death.
Now, he says that if you agree to his demand, that you deny your beliefs, he will shoot you in the head and end the pain instantly.
The wound you have is already fatal-- you know you are going to die either way. In one case, you die slowly and painfully, and in the other case, you die instantly and painlessly.
What do you do now?

o.o What's with all the thumbs-down? Jeez, I mean, it's not like I'm attacking anyone's beliefs. These are two similar but fundamentally different hypothetical situations, and I want to see how the same people would react in each situation. If you read the results of each, particularly for the people who answered both questions, you get some interesting insight into fellow members at Y!A. I frankly felt like they were hard questions that would provoke thought.

Haven't we all experienced pain?! What's an extra 20 minutes or so compared to 24 hours of mind and body numbing labor pain? The extra time would be its own blessing as it would enable me to make my peace with this world.
Now. If the same maniac was going to shoot one of my kids, that's an entirely different story. I would do whatever it takes to save the life of my child or someone else that I love.

I don't think I would want him to shoot me in the head because part of me would not believe I was going to die. So I would not say anything that would provoke him to shoot me in the head. But that's got nothing to do with me being a hypocrite or whatever. I think you have the right so say or not say anything if you want to escape something like that situation.

Pray for the strength to never lose faith. To hold onto what is utmost honorable and good is the only thing in life to accomplish. I'd pray to Him one last time to bring me home.
There is no place like heaven, home.
But in reference to being shot again, noone really knows what they'd do in such a fatal situation. Really.
Good thought provoking question tho.

I die painfully and slowly praising my God for the time and blessings that He's given me, knowing full well that I'm on my way to somewhere infinitiely better where some very amazing people are waiting for me.
My Savior died slowly and painfully. I wouldn't deny Him just to escape a few moments of pain.

I am already dying. There is no reason to deny my beliefs now. Indeed, that would be the point at which I would hold onto my belief in God the most strongly.

Again, I would not deny God. Shoot me in the head and get it over with so I can then be with my God.
PS Your questions are very thought provoking, but to someone who is in love with Christ, they are not hard to answer.

what is the point of denying the truth if you are going to be with the lord jesus what is the point of denying him just to escape pain when he suffered so much for us. i pray that in that situation he will give me the strength to be faithful and to use the opatunity to witness to and pray for my murderer.
Father God give your strenght and courage to your children who do face this because they love you don't let them give up but instead know your joy just like so many who have died for their faith in jesus and the knowlege that we can be saved through jesus' death and resurection. thank you father that you are with us always and will never leave us. Amen.

I have no idea, and it doesn't really matter. It doesn't affect my beliefs either way. Being tortured to say something doesn't make you any kind of hypocrite. However, I may or may not wish to give him the benefit of hearing me say it.

Why would you go against your beliefs then?
You will be with God in paradise that very hour.
Peace.
I am troubled by the reasoning behind the question though.
