Yes dogs can take aspirin but how much and how often depends on their size. You need to ask your vet for the correct amount so you don't make your dog sick. The vet has more effective drugs for arthritis much better than aspirin, give him a call.

Aspirin will not hurt your dog. It may not do much for your baby's arthritis pain but it will not hurt. You may want to try some dog glucosamine...if you have a Trader Joes where you live, they sell a really good one at a decent price. Also...if there is a swimming pool the dog could use...great exercise with no impact to irritate already irritated joints. Just like in people, gentle exercise helps to ease arthritis pain.

My mom use to give my dog (that was the size of a fox terrier) half an aspirin. She would put it in his mouth and hold it closed until he swallowed. Half an aspirin is a low dose and wont harm him.
My dog life to be 16 years old. He was exploring and walking around all that while, and my parents only had him put down when his back legs gave in, due to arthritis.
I think this will help ease her pain, but if you try and and it makes her drowsy, rather take her to the vet.
Good luck.

Yes you can give aspirin to a dog. The dosage is much less than a human can take though. Also I was told to always use buffered aspirin and not to crush it to prevent unwanted effects on the stomach. How much and how often is something that you need to check with your veterinarian. It varies depending on the size of your dog.
Also, ask your veterinarian about glucosamine condritin. It is a medication some people use on dogs who have joint pain and arthritis, supposedly it works.
We have an older black Labrador that weighs 108lbs who gets stiff and sore after a lot of exercise, we were told to use one 325mg tablet a day. We just put in the back of his throat and gently hold his mouth shut until he swallows then give him a reward. Or you can put it inside a piece of banana or peanut butter and bread. He takes it like a good trooper, its like a treat to him. Good luck.

Lots of vets recomend baby-asprin, but make sure it's okay with them first. Asprin can thin the blood in a dog like a humans, there are dog asprins out there on the market, that might be a better choice.
However for arthrist you need a glycosomine and a condroitin supplement to rebuild there muscules and cartilage, using something like Glyco flex will help and it's the only Dog product on the market with FDA aproval for DMG. Best over all and you can get it dirt cheap at www.petvetdirect.com

Dogs can have Baby Aspirin, but the dosage depends on the weight of the dog. For my 6 lb chihuahua the vet prescribed 1/2 an 81 mg baby aspirin...given every 6-8 hours.

Although aspirin is safe in dogs (never cats), a buffered aspirin or baby aspirin is best. Call your vet for a dose. This is not a long term relief product. If you are looking for long term use, ask your vet for a prescription of Rimadyl, deramaxx, previcox, etc. Also, there are supplement that you can add to her food like omega 3 fatty acids, synovi tabs, glucosamine and MSM.
Aspirin, on long term, can cause gastro-intestinal problems, ulcers, kidney problems and upset stomach, too.

I don't think you should give it to her until you ask a vet. I believe aspirin can be bad for cats, but I'm not sure about dogs.

My vet says "NO!" to aspirin; but your Vet can give your dog prescription medicine for your dogs arthritis. My Moms' Chihuahua has to take some meds. for this. A once yearly cortisone shot can also help! Talk to your Vet!
