I'm not sure. I think that is something you'll have to take up with your employer.

I don't see why not - after all, you get job adverts in the 'paper all the time for jobs to cover maternity leave for 6-12 months that could go permanent but the employers like to leave the option open for the new mum to return to work if she wants to.
Presumably this would be a case where your job would go permanent for the current incumbent.
Have a chat with your line manager or HR dept to check the conditions of your maternity leave and see what the policy is for your organisation...

You retain ALL rights whilst on Maternity leave and that includes Holiday Pay and any bonuses. It is actually not unheard of for a woman returning from maternity to take some time off as she has accrued a large lump (pardon the pun) of time off.

What do you mean resign 10 months into maternity leave...you took 10 months off? I don't get it.

Nope, you will have to pay back all your maternity money. You have to return to work for 3 months after maternity leave so you don't pay anything back.

You DONT have to pay back your maternity in the UK, eveyones entitled to it.
