When a cat leaves prizes on your door step, it's considered a token of love. A cat feels as if he is leaving you a wonderful treat. You may want to buy a collar with bells on it, this will help eliminate the prey he is able to catch, when the prey hears the bells, they have a better chance to escape and you have a better chance of not getting prizes. It's going to be hard to get him to stop leaving you treats, cause he knows you are his owner and this is his home. The only other thing I can come up with is to keep him indoors. Good luck, I really hope it works for you.

The only way I've found to stop my little killers (we've raised 26 in 24 years) is time and patience. We've praised the killers when they bring us thier 'kill' and in a relatively short time they have stopped killing, maybe it was just because they got older. We have had some that have kept at it, its tough to stop them as cats are natural hunters/predators. I'll keep an eye on this question and hopefully I'll learn something. I've found that for my bunch, using the hose to discourage them only makes them keep the kill off the porch but not stop the process.

Well, unfortunately, you have won the heart of that cat.
The cat is bringing you prizes.
I think the only solutions are:
1) Make him an indoor cat.
2) Get a dog
3) Stop showering him with affection.
If none of these are acceptable, then I think you'll just have to live with the cat leaving his prizes for you.

You can't, and actually as gross as it is, you should be flattered. You know how you bring your wife flowers to show her you love her? Well, that's the cat's way of showing your family he loves you. He actually is bringing the whole animal to you, but he can only keep it around for a while, then he decided to eat it. My calico does this ALL the time, she waits till I come out front (most of the time I see the animals that she kills) as soon as I see it & tell her she's a good girl, off she goes to eat it & leave some nasty part in the drive way. They just want you to be proud of them. The cat's in no way doing this to hurt you or be vulgar, he just wants you to be proud.

My girl cat did that even brought a couple of things in, when we saw her doing this we would tell her no, but thanks for the present. It is a cats nature to do this and him leaving the evidence behind is his way of showing he is doing his job. He may always do this, trying to stop it by being mean or punishment is not the answer. Although I have over reacted to a mouse being dropped at my feet. If you try to over look it he may stop, he is doing it for a response and praise.

Your cat is just being appreciative...
It thinks of you as its leader and is giving you some spoils of victory...I've never heard of anyone "correcting" this behavior, but believe me the number of cat owners I know have all experienced the same thing (that is if the cat goes outdoors).
If your daughter is upset by the guts, I suggest just getting out there earlier than her to clean it up...

LOL, I never could stop this they do it because they are proud of them selfs and want to show you how well they have done. It is in their genes that is what a cat is to do. Look on the bright side that is one less mouse or whatever you have to get in your house. My cat eventually stoped when he got to old and lost intrest in hunting he just depends on us to feed him.
You could keep your cat inside all the time.

My cats do this. Imagine it like a kid bringing home a finger painting from school and saying, "Look what I made for you, daddy!" Its their way of showing off and thanking you for taking care of them. I'm not sure if there's any way to stop it. Ask the vet.

Cats do this to show you they are hard working, great hunters and they want your approval. Aside from keeping the cat indoors, there's not much you can do. But, please be sure that regular stool samples are brought into the vet because outdoor cats tend to have many parasites. Also,be sure all vaccines are UTD. Many parasites are zoonotic - it would be really gross for your 7 year old to end up ill or it would be horrible if she ended up blind because your cat had parasites and because they were transmitted to her.
