Nope. They think they are holding all the cards...but they are critically mistaken. Before they use a nuclear weapon on anyone else, they will be bombed back to the stone age (not a real long journey for them).

Intellectually -
Why wouldn't NK want to be a part of the nuclear club? The U.S. deals diplomatically with members of the club but invades non members. Consequently, it is in their best interest to be a member of the club and a threat to global security.
Spiritually -
A non starter. No country operates from a spiritual stance. They may "claim" be to a peaceful and spiritual people but if they acted that way, they would be invaded.
My take -
It's time for countries like the U.S. to get rid of their nuclear capabilities. As it stands now, they have a nuclear arsenal that could destroy the earth many times over. Keeping a couple of bombs as insurance is one thing but the way it stands now? Is it any wonder that countries like Iran and NK want in? All they have to do is look to Iraq and think, "Man, I need a bomb so the U.S. will leave us alone."

Currently I don't feel threatened. Kim Jong Il is a glory hound and, more than anything, wants attention. I do believe the problem should be nipped in the bud, as if NK launched a nuke at China or Japan it would certainly affect the rest of the world.
I don't think it will end with nuclear weapons... the US and its allies have more power in conventional weaponry than NK would in nuclear weaponry. Plus the risk of fallout drifting over into South Korea or China would be high.

For some reason I would be really surprised if they actually launched at anyone. And even if they did, like you said, the entire world is against them, so something tells me that conflict wouldn't last long. It's not a good situation, but I think we have to wait a bit before we start saying that "nuclear war" is coming.

I'm not sure why you're asking this in this forum, but… the United States prime minister to North Korea said that he doesn't believe in any way that these people want war because they know that it would be suicide. What they want is to protect themselves from encountering a similar fate that befell Iraq. I'm not sure how you can blame them for being a bit nervous about the world's actions against Iraq.

I think that Korea is going to be the first to start a nuclear war. A war that will destroy all things, so spiritually I begin to pray harder.

Iran supports them because they see it's their right to have a weapon, just like the US, European countries, Israel, etc. have them... it's only when these countries take the step and destroy their own weapons of mass destruction, that we can preach other people and tell them they cannot have any.... until then, everyone is entitled to have them...
