Gee, I always hear it called the shrinking world, because jet transport and electronic communication allow us quick access to anyplace on the planet, unlike 500 years ago when it wasn't even possible to communicate with or travel to the other side of the world.

But I assume you are talking about the growing population. That does have an impact on the environment. More people need more food and water and produce more waste and the world isn't getting any bigger to supply more of those needs.
